2014 Ford F-150 Tremor debuts

My brothers ecoboost F150 has had 2 sets of turbos and intercoolers put on under warranty in the last 12k miles...

needless to say, its getting traded in on a new 5.0 mustang instead

That's strange, I know they had an issue on some of the intercoolers with condensation, but haven't had any turbo problems. Did he tune the truck?

Mine got the intercooler update per the TSB and I've had zero issues since (no turbo issues at all ever). Prior to that, only minor sputtering on two occasions in very wet conditions during long, steady -state driving.
I'm very happy with mine.

Just because it's a parts bin truck, doesn't mean the parts are cheap.

Well, it's disappointing to say the least. I really wanted to get one, but I can't see paying that when a Raptor starts at $44k. I'd say they priced themself right out of any kind of a market.

And I agree with James. I'd rather have a standard cab truck. Ext cab usually has much better rebates like he said.

I'm not trying to justify anything related to Tremor pricing, but I've never seen a Raptor sell new for anywhere near $44k. No one buys them stripped down and I'm looking at one right now that stickers for $55,195.

Wonder what these tremors weigh in at? I love the concept!

I love reg. cab short beds, from all the manufacturers! Especially semi-stripped down models too. Perfect blank canvas to hot-rod and have some fun with... not just another overloaded luxury couch wannabe.
A lot of these things many of you are griping about can all be accomplished on your own, and probably better than if the factory did it; like lowering it for example.

I don't get the 4.10 with turbo either though...?

I'm thinking about finding a 2010'ish truck and doing an Eco or 5.0 swap... The slightly older 4.6 trucks are cheap.. This grey one was $14,000.. Had about 30k miles... The red one is a parts hauler for Ford Redist.. I want it.. It would be a lightning killer with a 5.0 And bolt ons..

I'm hearing like 4800#'s for a 2wd reg cab 5.0 truck. for the tremor with 4x4 i'd think it'd be closer to 5000 or so. I think they're pretty cool and would be an awesome daily driver, but not for the money they want for it. Maybe in a few years i'll find an old man with a nicely maintained one.

Are the 4.6's sluggish in a standard cab? I've read that the standard cab 3.7s really move, especially tuned.

Build and price is up for 2014MY trucks. Looks like the FX2 based Tremor is $39,740, and the FX4 based one is $42,660.

Love regular cab trucks, that actually fit in normal garages and parking lots

Wait until you have a kid... big game changer IF that ever happens and for most that is why a single cab truck is somewhat useless to someone like me with 8 kid's

8? Uh oh, I will try to find the other 5

Stalker lol

Than I will just get another truck then, yes another

Love regular cabs though (thats how C10s come)

X2

Sucks that you can't order with a "stripe delete" along the sides and the hood, those added touches make the truck look like crap IMO. Keep it simple Ford!!

Personally I wouldn't buy any F-150 hoping for speed right now with public knowledge being that the new truck is losing a huge amount of weight. A next-gen F-150 with the 3.5L TT should be a fast ass truck, and it finally shouldn't get 2.1 mpg when you're on it.

They decided against the aluminum frame though, right? Never seemed like a good idea to me, not now, not for a truck....the research on bonding and joint design I've heard about was pretty interesting though. Stoked to see the new product.

Tremor vs Lightning

365hp vs 380hp
420lbft vs 450lbft
5100lbs vs 4700lbs
4.10 axle vs 3.73 axle
6 speed auto vs 4 speed auto

That's close enough for me! Eco has a wider powerband, closer gear spacing, and better axle ratio.. great match up.

Trans is only advantage. Shorter/lighter wheel + tire combo make up for gearing. Tremor will have trouble keeping up with my truck, won't touch Lightning.

Intake exhaust and a solid tune and e85 and I bet they're mid 12's. They're cool trucks, I've only seen one of them on the road so far, and I imagine it was a manufacturer tagged truck. Hope I run into one that wants to run next year.
