2013 GT500 Certified at 662hp and 630 ft-lbs/tq

What color was it? I was there on Wed from open till close and there was only one GT500 there running stock tires. He ran a best of like an 11.84 at 125 I think? I was talking to him quite a bit, great looking car for sure.

Last night at Milan stock GT500 with Drag Radials only ran [email protected] mph. 1.79 60ft. Will definitely end up in 10s on tires only.

Sounds like it was the same guy. Posted on SVTP that he ran about what you said on the stock tires, then after an extended cool down he ran 11.2@128 on Mickey Thomspon radials.

The most interesting part of that article is how they go on an on about how the ZL1 is easier to drive and more reasssuring and the stability control is better and the reason its faster is because they can push it harder.

So in other words the tester needs to grow a set of testies, turn off the nanies sack up and push. He is driving neither car to the edge but throwing big claims about "performance" gotta love journalists.

In road racing the most important mod is the driver mod. I know guys that can beat a novice in a ZR1 with a rental V6 mustang on a road course.

I am looking forward to Motor Trends side by side (they have Randy Pobst drive the cars) when a real driver drives the cars

The Camaro is always going to be the better mannered car with IRS and I applaud them for doing it, hell I want IRS on my Mustang!

Can't wait for Car an Driver lightning lap this year, same track, same day, Randy Pobst driver = ZL1 loses

Fixed. :)

Not much of a surprise here. Nobody thought the Z was going to beat the Shelby in the 1320, and only a select few thought the Z was going to lose on a racetrack with turns. As is the case with most things, there isn't one perfect tool for all jobs. One is better in the straights, one is better in the turns, but they are both ridiculous values that challenge the relevance of exotics costing way more and offering way less (besides cachet). Kudos to both companies for building these similar cars with different intentions.

Well said! I work for GM, I like GM...but I am thoroughly impressed with both companies for bringing these to market. Every hero needs it's nemesis. Without these two warring, we'd be driving complete turds. Competition benefits us all, no matter who the winner is this round.

Which one's air bags are more likely to stay inside the headliner on a road course though?

Ahahahaha, I think that's the most important question I've read in this thread yet.

THis is like the reverse of the 4th gen vs Mustang debates. The 4th gens blew the doors off their GT counterparts, and it took a 32 valve V8 to match the LS1. But man, those reviewers rarely ever picked the 4th gen in a head to head! Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

This is just like the 3rd gen vs Mustang debates. The Mustang blew the doors off their 3rd gen counterparts and it only took a spindly 302 to do it to their 350s. But man those reviewers ALWAYS picked the Mustang in a head to head! Sounds familiar doesn't it?? :icon_bigg

The best part is when you can do it with 100 hp less.
