2013 College Football Megathread

This rumor seems ridiculous.

Why would Saban leave ALA for TEX for no significant money or contract increase.

What is the motivation?
Money lots of it
Financially, it's a lateral move. Other than that, it's all Nick's ego...
Texas could double what Bama pays if it wanted to

The good news is that Pat Narduzzi turned down the offer by UConn. He loves his job and will be very selective. My guess is he's waiting for the Texas job...

Narduzzi wouldn't make the top 25 list for the head job at Texas. Why take a gamble with him when they can buy tried and true?

Narduzzi may not be in Texas' top 25 coaching candidates, the problem with that list from articles I've seen though is that the entire list is pipe dreams.

Rumors dantonio is in consideration. I could see that happening. Texas won't touch an unproven coach

At least we'd know who'd be Dantonio's replacement. Dantonio always said MSU was a destination job. Might be time to find out...

Dantonio has already said hes staying, Texas is gonna have to throw alot of money at a coach because of how they shoved Mac brown out, I heard Lane Kiffen is looking

Dantonio & Izzo are both class acts in that regard. Both have said MSU is their final stop. Izzo his first and final stop. You have to have a lot of respect for that.

I wonder who will be coaching each of them in that game.

I don't think Hoke is going anywhere. He'd have to do sub 9 win seasons for the next 3 to 4 years. Brandon is running this like a business and not a football program.

FL though very likely could switch if next year turns out at all like this year.

Stay classy Michigan...

Michigan's Taylor Lewan denies assaulting Ohio State fan

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. — Michigan senior offensive tackle Taylor Lewan defended himself today against accusations that he assaulted an Ohio State fan on Nov. 30 in Ann Arbor.

Lewan has not been arrested or charged in the incident, but was one of several people interviewed by police.

“I’m not going to get into too many details,” Lewan told the Arizona Republic. “I wasn’t in any fight. I didn’t hit anybody. I was really just trying to help out a situation and break up something. I can’t really go into any more details than that.”

Lewan is in Arizona with the Wolverines for Saturday’s Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.

As the leader of the offensive line and a four-year starter, he is U-M’s highest profile player and its most successful, winning the Big Ten Rimington-Pace offensive lineman of the year award the past two seasons.

A U-M team spokesman told the Free Press earlier this week that Lewan is expected to play in the game.

“I haven’t thought about it much at all,” Lewan told the Republic of the alleged assault. “I didn’t hit anybody or do anything like that. My focus is here. I’m sure the truth will come out, and it’ll all work out.”

An altercation was reported outside the Brown Jug restaurant on South University Ave. near U-M’s Central Campus the night of the Ohio State game.

Ryan Munsch, from Columbus, Ohio, told the Free Press on Tuesday that Lewan assaulted him and a friend of his. After punching his friend, Munsch said Lewan punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. He said Lewan then punched him in the ribs.

Munsch was taken to the hospital afterward.

The Brown Jug manager told the Free Press that the surveillance footage did not show much of the incident.

An OSU fan, drunk, reporting he saw Taylor Lewan in a red shirt hit him. Yep, seems legit.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State has suspended senior linebacker Max Bullough for violating team rules, making him ineligible to play in the Rose Bowl.
In a news release sent early Thursday, Spartans coach Mark Dantonio said Bullough had been suspended for the rest of the season. He did not say what rules the two-time team captain violated.
"It is extremely disappointing for all parties involved," Dantonio said.
The No. 4 Spartans will play No. 5 Stanford in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 in Pasadena, Calif. It is Michigan State's seventh straight bowl game and first appearance in the Rose Bowl in 26 seasons.
Bullough, from Traverse City, had 76 tackles and 9.5 tackles for loss this season, earning him third-team All-America honors and first-team All-Big Ten honors. He has 299 career tackles and made 40 consecutive starts.
Playing for Michigan State has been a family affair. Max Bullough's grandfather, Hank Bullough, played for Michigan State in the early 1950s, and his father Shane followed in the mid-1980s. Two of Max Bullough's uncles were Spartans and his younger brother Riley is a redshirt freshman.
"Max will forever remain a Spartan and valued member in this team's achievements," Dantonio said in the statement.

.

Which is even more humorous when you take into consideration it's been about 2 years ago now that Bullough was arrested in Colorado and pled to a lesser charge for being involved in a bar fight. So stay classy MSU.

According to Josh Slagter of the Grand Rapids Press Michigan State tight end Brian Linthicum and linebacker Max Bullough, two potential starters for the Spartans in 2011, were arrested after an incident at a bar in Aspen Colorado.
The reports indicate that Linthicum was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor third-degree assault and eluding police. Bullough was also charged with eluding police and underage possession of alcohol.
After being released from jail, both players are now scheduled to appear in a Pitkin County Court on April 19th.
Slagter says that Linthicum caught 18 passes for 230 yards as a junior. Bullough who was expected to take over at linebacker for Greg Jones played as a true freshman for the Spartans last season.
