2013 College Football Megathread

You do realize that Michigan has the number 1 o line in recruiting right now? I am not worried about our line. We need a back to utilize the line.

That'll be a great line. Taylor Lewan and four freshmen. How many of those freshmen do you think will even see the field. If I were you, I'd be hoping Michigan redshirts them.

As for Ohio State, who's going to beat them? MSU and Nebraska come off their schedule and they get Iowa and Northwestern. Ohio State has a good chance of running the table again.

How about a steak dinner wager that the Buckeyes finish better than 8-4? They don't call him the Urban Legend for nothing......

He has a great legend going. He's known for bowing out when the pressure gets tough then lying through his teeth to get what he wants.

as for a wager. It's 8 months away. Talk to me when it gets closer.

You must've forgotten the two National Championships? I enjoy the back and forth banter, just trying to have some fun with it this year. You'd probably enjoy collecting that bet more than I would....;)

I think he forgot about last year's recruiting class (almost as good as this years). Schofield will be an all B1G tackle this year along with Lewan. I like our prospects a ton more than yours. And I probably follow Sparty recruiting more than you do. Now you are going to see that recruiting matters along with good coaching. I can't say that I can sell OSU short from now on out. Meyer is killing it recruiting and he is a good coach. Most Buckeye fans and U of M fans on the boards I visit are all of the same thought, B1G 2 little 10.

2013 U of M OL
LT - RS SR Lewan

It's been a tough weekend for Texas. On Friday, offensive coordinator Major Applewhite acknowledged that he was disciplined by the university for an inappropriate relationship with a student during the Longhorns' trip to play in the Fiesta Bowl after the 2008 season.

Texas freshman quarterback Connor Brewer was arrested for public intoxication early Saturday morning.

Brewer, who redshirted last season for Texas, was also ticketed for minor in possession by the University of Texas police department and was booked in the Travis County Booking facility early Saturday morning.

OSU nabs the #1 recruiting class....!!

Well done by the Urban Legend....

#1 (2) Ohio State Buckeyes
Avg. Star Rating for Top 20 Commits - 4.25
Headliner: No. 2 MLB Mike Mitchell
Commitment List | Forum

Urban Meyer and Ohio State took the Big Ten by storm in just a few short months last year before finishing with the No. 3 class in the country. The Buckeyes haven't let up and could bring in an even more impressive haul this year. It's a terrific year for running backs and Ezekiel Elliot (6-foot/200) of St. Louis, Mo., is ranked ninth but would push for No. 1 in most years. Linebacker Mike Mitchell (6-4/225) of Plano, Texas is a name who will have scouts salivating at the NFL Combine in a few years. He possesses a size/speed skill set that translates well to the next level. Percy Harvin did as much damage running the ball as he did catching it for Urban Meyer at Florida, and Jalin Marshall (6-1/190) of Middletown, Ohio, has the ability to play the Harvin role almost as good as Harvin. (1/31) Ohio State gets 4-Star wide receiver Corey Smith, moving the Buckeyes up and putting Michigan squarely in their sights. (2/4) Ohio State inched a little closer to the No. 1 Class in the nation with a commitment from the nation's No. 10 running back Dontre Wilson (5'10/180) of Desoto, Texas. (2/6) Ohio State took over the No. 1 spot in the rankings on Signing Day with a signature from 5-Star safety Von Bell (6'0/190) of Rossville, Ga., and for good measure to get some separation from the No. 2 team, Ohio State quickly added 4-Star receiver James Clark (5'11/170) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Where is Sparty? No where in sight. But they develop their players rather than recruit high profile guys lol. Now the U of M is has decent coaches, I think recruiting is going to matter more and more. OSU is always going to do well under Meyer. It is going to be interesting to see who else can step up in the next few years.

Recruiting numbers do not matter. The reason I say that is is that some people have 25 or 30(?) scholarships to give while other have 15-17. Quantity has as much to do with those recruiting numbers as quality. I'm not saying that OSU or Alabama had a so-so recruiting classes, but numbers are skewed by how many players are recruited. MSU will never make the Top 25 when they typically recruit 15-20 players.
