 you obviously know nothing about college football, So by your logic UCLA is #2 in the Pac-12 correct? 6-7 UCLA.... Why isnt georgia rematching LSU if they are the SEC #2???

Same reason why college football doesn't have playoffs. Same reason why msu lost the bcs game to umich. I know how college football works - but this is one thing the nfl does better.

I mean, come on.... That's why there are championship games...

Fuck, what about the 2008 Arizona Cardinals that were 9-7 in the regular season but won through the playoffs for a superbowl appearance. I don't care how you get there. If you are in the championship game, obviously you got there by winning. Some seasons it's luck of the draw, some seasons it's not. I didn't say Georgia was the best team in the SEC, and I didn't say they were #2 SEC team of all time.. That's the problem with the BCS, you look at the team and their "heritage" or history....not what their standings are this season.. And this is why teams like Boise State and Michigan State get screwed out of BCS games. Facts are facts, Michigan State was #2 in the Big 10 and Georgia was #2 in the SEC this year. Now stop crying about it.

You have to understand it's college football. These are students, the games have to fit within the semester. It's also what makes the regular season so awesome. Lose one game, and there's a chance you don't play for a nat'l championship. (Also helps to not get your shit pushed in by ND LOL)

Quit whining about the bowl selection. You guys had your shot to beat Wis AGAIN and fucking choked. No one else to blame except yourself.

That being said, nice win for Sparty yesterday. Way to rep the big 10.

You're talking two separate issues.

1. Michigan in a BCS game, MSU not. Michigan is a bigger name, has a bigger name QB, thus it pulls much greater interest and money. The Conference Championship games should have no bearing on final standing in the BCS other than the winner should AQ.

2. Georgia is not the second best team in the SEC. In the division of the SEC, it beat the worst division, but the second best team was definitely not GA. As stated by everyone in this thread, GA was at best, 4th best team in the SEC. You're banking your entire theory on the conference division which has absolutely no bearing on who the second best team is.

I'm not whining about bowl selection - I'm just saying there are some MAJOR flaws in the system and even you guys admit that about the BCS...... I'm just saying that it doesn't matter what conference division you come from....it's the way the system works... If you don't like it - then get them to change it. In my eyes, the team that wins the conference championship is the #1 team in the conference. The team that loses the championship game is #2.

If the Lions got to the Superbowl this year and lost - would they not be the #2 team in the league?

Your argument is so flawed, just stop.

No they are not lol. I understand your just trying to talk up MSU's victory. We all saw what happens when a real SEC #2 plays a real Big ten co-champ last year.

This is why the big 10 added a championship game. Because we didn't have one, teams that sat idle the last week of the season always dropped in rankings. So the big 10 champ game was added to give the team that won and extra boost, instead of dropping. Kinda like what MSU would have done if they would have won instead of losing. You act like MSU got wronged or something. This happens to every single team in college football, get over it. They controlled their destiny, they fucked up. It's not like they didn't have their chance to go to a BCS game, then you'd have a valid bitch.

It use to happen to Michigan every time we lost to OSU the last week of the season, but you don't hear us bitching about it.

X2 This always happened in the Big 12 championship game. Just wait till one year a team with 3-4 losses makes the Big 10 championship game and upsets a undefeated Big 10 team. I wont miss the Championship game AT ALL.

Yeah it's going to happen eventually. One of the divisions will have a terrible year and a team that shouldn't be going to the rose bowl will. But hey, that's what makes football awesome. Any given Sunday as they say.

I'd agree with Kevin if MSU didn't have their shot, IE if there was no champ game this year. Hell if there wasn't one MSU probably wouldn't have gotten leap frogged. But no one to blame but them selves. They choked against a team they proved they could beat. To me, that doesn't deserve a BCS bowl bid.

Yep I agree.

On another note it would be cool to see some bowl re-alignment. The Rose Bowl game is awesome, the Capitol one bowl is cool, why cant there be a Big 12 vs. SEC champ game? Or Big 12 vs. ACC champ game. Its lame the Fiesta bowl is always the Big 12 vs at large. Id also like to see more SEC/ACC vs. Big 12 NYD games, look at the Cotton bowl its a huge hit. A Big 12 vs. SEC #4-#6 match up would be cool.

Im sure the Big 10 fans wouldnt mind giving away a few of those SEC match ups lol.

Also spread the games out!!! Yesterday sucked 3 good games on all at the same time. NYD games lost there hype, keep the Rose bowl on NYD and Fiesta, but spread em out so theres one good game on from the 26th-9th!

LOL it's just too easy. When is this guy finally going to realize his head and his ass aren't wired together?

If you can show me where MSU had any say in the FAU game played at Ford Field, I would agree we had 8 home games. That game was arranged by FAU. FAU made any profit that came from that game. MSU got a cut of the gate like any ROAD team would. Maybe this will clear your shit filled mind...

Edwin Baker's 183 rushing yards give Michigan St. edge

Associated Press

DETROIT -- Edwin Baker ran for an 80-yard touchdown and had 183 yards rushing to lead Michigan State to a 30-17 win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday.

The Spartans (2-0) wore their road whites in the Motor City matchup that was originally scheduled to be at the Owls' new stadium in Boca Raton, Fla. Florida Atlantic (1-1) chose to play at the Detroit Lions' home because its 30,000-seat venue won't be open until next year.

Baker's 80-yard TD put Michigan State ahead 27-7 early in the third quarter.

The Owls had a chance to pull within a TD and 2-point conversion with 2:50 left, but coach Howard Schnellenberger settled for a field goal instead of going for it from the Michigan State 6.

Kirk Cousins had 142 yards passing, a TD and an interception for the Spartans.

Florida Atlantic's Jeff Van Camp was 23-of-35 for 215 yards and a score.

The Sun Belt Conference school was hoping to pack Ford Field with Michigan State fans, but the announced crowd was just 36,124 and there seemed to be fewer fans in seats. Florida Atlantic athletic director Craig Angelos said he hoped to make $1 million after expenses, adding that windfall would exceeded what the school will likely make at its true home games.

The Owls wore their home uniforms and got to control much of what went on -- including piping in owl sounds when Michigan State had the ball on third down on its opening drive -- and had FAU painted at midfield and Lions removed from the end zones.
Michigan State, though, had many advantages in the game that was a 90-minute drive from its East Lansing, Mich., campus.

Baker was the biggest one.

The sophomore ran with speed and power, making the most of his 15 carries to hold off freshman Le'Veon Bell for playing time after he ran for 141 yards in his debut in last week's win against Western Michigan.

Bell ran for 49 yards on 10 carries and put Michigan State ahead 10-0 early in the game with a 9-yard run after stiff-arming linebacker Michael Lockley onto his back.

The Spartans' weakness is pass defense and that was exposed against Van Camp, who completed nearly two-thirds of his passes to wide-open options all over the field.

Van Camp's TD pass to Xavier Stinson pulled Florida Atlantic within 13 points late in the third quarter.

After Dan Conroy kicked a third field goal -- from 50 yards -- the Owls put themselves in a position to possibly make the ending interesting. Schnellenberger stunted any potential excitement by deciding to have Ross Gornall kick a 24-yard field goal late in the game.

How about something comparable? Big 12 vs Big East, aka, the TCU Bowl. You can match up Texas with UConn....

Big 12 is 6-1 in bowls and you can agure that they are better top to bottom then the SEC. Look in the Mirrior the Big 10 should be playing the Big East.... 1-9 in the last 2 years on NYD!!!!! hahahahahahhaha

The Big 12, with the exception of Oklahoma State and KSU, were playing 'down'. Missouri and Texas were not underdogs. Baylor and A&M were also favorites. ISU was the one team playing someone else with equal talent and lost by two TD's. The Big 12 has 1 true top flite team and they played Stanford last night.

Whos fault is it that the Big 12 had bowl game advantages? That should be a clear sign of how good the confrence is. Spin it anyway you want but Big 12>Big 10 all day long.
