That'd be like suspending MSU or OSU from bowls. What's the point of going to a bowl if they can't win one.

Something Michigan got in trouble for. It allows one month of practice, legally. It also adds money to the conference. You guys forget quickly in two years...

What good is it to give a Bowl suspension if that team can't reach a Bowl. That's like telling Minnesota or Indiana they can't go to a Bowl.

Michigan's bowl record over the last 10 years
3 wins, 5 losses, 2 no bowl appearances

2000: WIN 31-28 over Auburn
2001: LOSS 17-45 to Tennessee
2002: WIN 38-30 over Florida
2003: LOSS 14-28 to USC
2004: LOSS 37-38 to Texas
2005: LOSS 28-32 to Nebraska
2006: LOSS 18-32 to USC
2007: WIN 41-35 over Florida
2008: No Bowl
2009: No Bowl

MSU's bowl record:
1 win, 5 losses, 4 "no bowl appearances"

2000: No Bowl
2001: WIN against Fresno State
2002: No Bowl
2003: LOSS to Nebraska
2004: LOSS to Hawaii
2005: No Bowl
2006: No Bowl
2007: LOSS to Boston College
2008: LOSS to Georgia
2009: LOSS to Texas Tech

Dumb shit. Congrats on that big win against Fresno State though. Really, really impressive.

Yeah, Michigan had a few consecutive bowl losses, but they were losing to teams like Vince Young led Texas, Reggie Bush led USC, etc. Damn good teams with Heisman (sorta) winners. MSU, on the rare occasion that the made a crappy bowl, was busy losing to Boston College and Hawaii

Congrats to both of you for those bowl victories the last two years. No THAT is impressive. And remember you only get to eat Little Ceasers during the Pizza Bowl (if UM can beat Purdue). Enjoy watching Sparty at the Rose Bowl.

As for tomorrow, Illinois 38, Cheater U 17

LOL, Cheater U... so funny coming from the team that lets guys out of prison and back on the team in the same day...

It's also humorous that even in missing 2 bowl games in the last two years we still haven't missed more than half the bowl games that MSU has in the last 10 years.

 He's completely delusional. He's like a one time Tour de France winner making fun of Lance Armstrong for not winning last year.

That's funny. I'm delusional, and yet you and Ryan still think Michigan football is relavent. But go ahead, keep your heads buried in the sand.

2 bad years and a third year that's not the greatest and we are supposed to just think UM football is now the equipvalent of what MSU has been for the last 20 years... Yep. definitely delusional.

Fixed that for you. I'm honest if nothing else. And the numbers don't lie. 4-16 in Big Ten play, and two of those were against Indiana and one was against Minnesota. Real relevant. You have one player on defense with talent (Martin) who probably won't be back (NFL) next year. Do you see that much improvement for next year? I certainly don't. Penn State had problems moving the ball against everyone except Michigan. Your whole season comes down to the Purdue game. Good luck with that. Even Michigan's recruiting has gone in the tank, being down around 30th-35th. Defenitely high hopes for the future. And if you do want to get rid of Rodriquez, it'll only cost you another $4M. Now we know why the Bigger House was renevated; to pay off coach buyouts...LOL!

Keep living in that strange world where your arguments make sense and you feel smart.

MSU has had ONE good year (so far) in the past 10.

as posted before, since you can't seem to read, comprehend and remember...

U-M 2000-2010:
86-46

MSU 2000-2010
68-63

EVEN with the past two HORRIBLE U-M seasons... MSU and Michigan's record's over the past five years are almost identical
MSU:
34-26

U-M:
33-25

So, congrats, by your own words, Michigan's downward spiral of doom has landed them squarely even with MSU's steady platform of sucky. I guess that's some sort of victory for a Spartan fan. You now suck as bad as we do! YAY!

Psst. You got it wrong there chief, they don't let players out of prison... The COUNTY let him out of JAIL.. ;)

Hmmmm, I was asked about relevence. MSU had two poor coaches before hiring Dantonio. No one has argued that. So in the four years Dantonio has been the coach, MSU is....30-18 .625 . And in doing so he has built a solid program. Michigan broomed Lloyd Carr (retirement or not) and hired Rich Rod after 3 other coaches said no. The reward? 13-19.

What happened in 1966 doesn't matter. What happen in 1997 doesn't matter. What happened between 2000 and 2006/2007 doesn't really matter. What does matter is the two teams compass. MSU's is clearly pointed north. Michigan's is pointed south. Lloyd Carr isn't there to save them. And if Rich Rod is canned, Michigan have no recruiting class, even the poor one ranked about midway in the Big Ten. Congradulations! You've become Illinois. Even if UM hired Harbaugh, it'll take him 3 or 4 years to gets past the train wreck Michigan currently is. My hope is one or two more years of RichRod so you can go from being Illinois to being Indiana.

So let me get this straight. The only history that matters is the ones that rarely have msu in a winning position.

I'm saying you have a coach and this is what it is. MSU has a coach, and they are what they are. Ryan, Mike? What is your HONEST assessment of the mess that is UM football? Is this team as good as ANY of Lloyd Carr's teams? Will you be happy going to the Pizza Bowl or staying at home? Tell me of all the National Championships Rich Rod will take you to...

Michigan Football is better off without Carr. Not that Carr was a bad coach, but he was at the end of his term and needed to go. He wasn't adjusting to the changing field around him and it was starting to show. I wanted Les Miles at the time, but am glad we didn't get him as I have very large doubts as to his ability to do even as good as Rodrigues is right now.

The first year isn't Rodrigues fault. It's the AD's and the university for how it handled the coaching search. You could have put Saban in there and he wouldn't have won anything more than Rodrigues did.

Year two was an improvement over year one, though that's like saying the Lions are doing better this year. It's relative. The team was young and the players were either ingrained in a the previous system or just so green they couldn't perform. It was bound to fail and it did.

Year three is when I expected to see change. I have seen change. This is honestly one of the most explosive offenses I've ever seen. It's not just Shoelace. It's the line, the WR's the RB's. They all just perform at a different level. Considering most are very young this is very promising for our future. The defense sucks. I'm not sure if it's the RRod's problem yet or the DC. Rrod's not know for having the worlds strong D, so I think it's a little of both. The losses we've had have been disapointing to say the least. I didn't expect to win the whole season, but I didn't expect our losses to be so miserable. But even in the losses, our Offense has been a bright point. Even when they screw up, they still make a game of it. If our Defense wasn't a bunch of paper cutouts for the other teams receivers to run around this season would only have 2 losses. This is why I think he needs another year. Year one doesn't count, year two was doomed to fail the day Carr announced leaving, and this year has been an improvement with some lackluster performances. If next year we don't see something definitive, then can him. Do it early enough, quick enough, and decisive enough that we don't have another cluster fuck.

That being said. I'm quite alright with 3 years into the program going to a no name bowl. As MSU is quite familiar with them you're able to relate that it's the opportunity to go up. It took you guys long enough to get a decent team, so I'm not expecting us to take 30 years to do it, but we will be back to where we were and better off too. I forsee more opportunities for a NC with RRod than with Carr. And if 13 years into it he's losing to teams like App State, I'll gladly call for his head too.
