his numbers are impressive until you realize that Michigan has never had an offense that was designed around a running QB/spread.

i think the kid is going to get hurt before the 5th game of the season if they keep relying on him too much.

Those numbers are impressive no matter what. How many top NFL QBs have gone through UM? And how many had a more efficient passing game than he did Saturday? One. Obviously his running ability opens up the passing game....much like it did for Vick, Young, and White. But he throws a better ball than both Young and Vick.

Since 2006 numbers like he put up have been put up 5 times. His game Saturday, once by White, twice by Young, and once by a kid at a small school. It's still fucking impressive.

Anyone can get hurt at anytime. He's not a small dude, he's built like a RB. That being said, I don't see many games where he runs 30 times. It was windy as hell Saturday, so they weren't gonna put the ball up if they didn't have to.

guess there's just no being civil to um fans. that's what makes our current streak against um even sweeter. great winners, poor losers.....whatever.....:shake:

This is what I like. OSU fans who like to tout "We like to give it cause we know it will eventually come back", then cry like little girls when it comes back. Be sure to wipe your sniffling nose on that sweater vest.

Once again, it's not just who Michigan beat. It's how they beat them. You can say UConn is a cream puff, but anyone who actually follows college football as a whole as opposed to their little corner of the country in Columbus would disagree. I'm not gonna lie, I was concerned about this game, and it was nice to see a decisive victory. I'm excited as hell about seeing RR's offense in high gear, because it means Big Blue could soon see the "big" games OSU fans have become accustomed to. And hopefully Michigan won't get their asses kicked every time they get into one of those big games...unlike the Buckeyes.

First, UConn never touted a big, bruising defense, and their secondary was just as questionable as UM's. UConns QB couldn't hit the broadside of a barn that game. There were plenty of passes with wide open receivers he just didn't get the ball to. Robinson isn't going to have those types of games against OSU, Iowa or even MSU. The rest of the UM backs had a 3.4 yards per carry average. Other teams will just guard against Robinson and dare UM to hand the ball off.

I congradulated UM on a good game, but like Jim I find it funny that now everyone thinks this team has hit the big time just because of this game. We know UM will score points, but the only thing proven by that game was that UConn pissed in their pants with 113,000 fans in the place. Notre Dame will be a truer test for both UM & MSU. Purdue already failed the Irish test.

let me spell this out again since obviously no one is reading Josh's comments. UConn is not the deciding factor on us being excited about the game. Every team has an aptness to fail. MSU has done it, OSU has done it, and obviously UM has done it in recent history. So just because you're playing a "powder puff" team doesn't mean that it's a guaranteed win. A win is a win. That much we're all seeing eye to eye on. What UM fans are happy and excited about is the fact that what has been promised to us for the last 3 years is coming true. We have an explosive offense which will cause all teams of any caliber to take pause and reevaluate how they are going to approach us. Last year, outside of the ND game, we didn't have that. Though most of our losses were extremely close and were one turnover away from being win's, we still weren't in RichRod's style. If you compared last years team with this, there's a night and day difference. His players are here and while they are young and the setup isn't fully his, the team is pulling it together. This year will be a good year. Next year a great year.

Why am I not surprised that a Sparty and a Buckeye fail at reading comprehension?

Like Ryan said, I don't recall ever saying UM was going to a BCS game, let alone winning the Big 10. A weak secondary is already suffering more injuries. They are gonna get lit up.

But yeah, we just saw a historically great performance by the new QB. I'm excited about the potential of the offense. I love Valenti today: "yeah, Robinson played good". The master of hyperbole himself....B10 player of the week, Most total yards by a UM QB ever, against(despite what Swiftster said) a good, physical defense(with possibly the top lb corp in the country). He played...."good".

By the way, I realized that I haven't made my predictions, so here we go

Sep 4 - Vs Conn - Home - WIN
Sep 11 - Vs Notre Dame - Away - WIN
Sep 18 - Vs Mass - Home - WIN
Sep 25 - Vs Bowling Green - Home - WIN
Oct 2 - Vs Indiana - Away - WIN
Oct 9 - Vs MSU - Home - WIN
Oct 16 - Vs Iowa *HOMECOMING* - Home - WIN
Oct 30 - Vs PSU - Away - WIN
Nov 6 - Vs Illinois - Home - WIN
Nov 13 - Vs Purdue - Away - WIN
Nov 20 - Vs Wisconsin - Home - LOSE
Nov 27 - Vs OSU - Away - WIN

They will put up big numbers. The secondary will struggle and give up points, but Michigan will score enough

Big Ten Champs, BCS Bowl. Yeah, I said it.

That having been said, although it's not reflected in my predictions, they will lose one game that they really should win (Illinois, Purdue or Indiana). However, they will win one game that they probably should lose (PSU, OSU or Wisconsin).

U of M is down with injuries already. I don't see them beating Notre Dame this weekend. Sorry! They're lacking a starting WR and starting safety....

Denard was 19-22 passing for 186 yards in the air, 1 passing touchdown, no interceptions and ran for 197 yards and another touchdown. That is an INCREDIBLE day.

Damn, that beats the shit out of the day my team's QB had (9/15 for 136, no TDs, no INTs; 7 for 127 and 3 TDs rushing) and Conn is a far superior opponent to Western Kentucky.

Here's my question though - can UM's offensive line hold the entire season to keep their QB from getting injured during one of his runs?

Is Denard a Sophomore or Junior? Either way, I look forward to an exciting game next year when Nebraska comes to Michigan and Robinson and Martinez are both running all over the place.

I don't think the Big 10 is full of Bob Sanderses. With fast, elusive running QBs like Denard it's the safties that are the ones most likely to hit the QB hard and there just aren't that many really physical safties out there to provide that big hit to knock them out of the game. It's the pocket passers that have to worry about line play to keep them from getting injured, not the Robinsons, Pat Whites, Tommy Fraziers, etc.

I wouldn't be so sure. Linemen are the ones who create the openings for their foot working QB's..... Unless you expect every run to go around the line - in which case all it's going to take is a nice solid hit from a defensive end or a linebacker like Greg Jones who's damn good on the blitz and has the speed needed. :)

Alright I'll put my real predictions in now

Running QB's aren't North-South type runners that run straight into the line. LBs can be in position to injure them but thinking this guy is going to take a huge hit from a D lineman just isn't a realistic concern. The hard hits a guy like this takes are when he's running in the open field at speed and a defender has time to get in position to get lined up and really pop him. The guys that are most likely to do this are DBs.

I started off the season saying that they would go 8-4. After this weekend, I think it will be better than that. 10-2 is possible. 9-3 is likely. 8-4 is the bare minimum.
