ZL1: Chevrolet Camaro

I'm guessing 575hp after all is said and done. If the CTS-V makes 556, this has a different exhaust and minor changes in the tune, it should hit that no problem.

Oh well, I wont be buying one, but its nice that GM is making them, same with SRT8's. Long live musclecars and competition. If this keeps up, we'll all have 1100hp rides that get 45mpg by 2025

No, we won't have them until 2032. We'll let the rich guys buy them off the lot and then buy it used from them after they eat the depreciation cost. ;)

Same engine, same HP. The only difference between the CTS-V and ZL1 engines are the blower covers. The intercooler water ports are switched around.

there are a few more differances between the ZR-1 and the LS-a...IMO the 2300 is a better fit to the 6.0L and 6.2L engine.

I saw a late 60's Camaro rolling around Woodward with "ZL1" plate on it last summer. I hope the new one is faster than that old 60's turd.

We do the steering for these, all I can say is the rear tires don't have a chance with me behind the wheel. ;)

I want that steering wheel.

As for the bumper, not sure if want. Maybe, though.

GT500 will still wax the floor with this unless it's closer to 600hp. Not to mention they won't sit back and idle with this coming out.

TF3 style bumper? Seriously?

New steering wheel was needed bad. Interior looks tacky with all that suede stuck all over.

Does anyone else think this might have still been a Z28 until the Boss 302 came out? A new Z28 would be a real nice competitor to that.

Dream on ford boi !!!! LOL .

Here is the answer...

2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 to Have Camaro ZL1–Slapping 600-Plus Horsepower

Only a month after the unveiling of the 550-plus-hp 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, word is leaking out that Ford will substantially advance the muscle-car wars with a 2013 Shelby GT500 making a pants-bursting 600-plus horsepower.

Our well-informed sources say the stratospheric output figure, which could be as high as 620 horses, is the result of boring out the current 5.4-liter V-8 to 5.8 liters and swapping the existing Eaton M112 supercharger for the same firm’s more-efficient and quieter TVS unit. This supercharger, with its four-lobe rotors, is the blower of choice for the Audi S4, Cadillac CTS-V, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and, interestingly, the Camaro ZL1.

The 5.4-liter in the current GT500 makes an already pretty absurd 550 hp. The car rips to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 12.4. Based solely on the horsepower increase, we estimate that the 2013 model will drop almost half a second through the quarter, for a 12.0-second run. As it is already traction limited, we don’t see the 0-to-60 number changing much. We do, however, anticipate that it’ll be a straight-up bitch to launch consistently, at least without the addition of a launch-control system. If it isn’t limited to 155 mph, as the current car is, the 2013 GT500 should be capable of topping 190 mph.

Like all 2013 Mustangs, the GT500 will sport a body altered with the goal of looking somewhat less retro and more modern and edgy, according to sources. And, yes, we do take “modern” to imply the addition of LEDs to the head- and taillight assemblies. You won’t see any of the new bodywork in the spy photos here. This powertrain mule caught today in Dearborn wears familiar bodywork (and 2011 Mustang GT headlights) but rides very low over a set of current GT500 Performance package wheels. What won’t change is the basic rear-suspension design. That’s right: This most insanely powerful of Mustangs will keep its live axle. It’ll just be a little, er, livelier.

The new model is, of course, still a long way off. Hell, the 2012 ZL1 that it’s intended to battle won’t go on sale for another 11 or so months. Expect the 2013 GT500 about 10 months after that, leaving you plenty of time to save your dollars. You’re going to need about 60,000 of them to buy one.

Not sure on the exhaust, the engines themselves are identical besides the blower covers and the cooler.
The LS9 and LSA are two completely different engines.

They are. But the ZL1 LSA is getting hond with a deck plate like the Corvette motors while the Caddy motor is not done like that. Don't know what othr differnces there are but they promoted the shit out of that difference.

Gt500 is like a supra: big RWHP, slow ET'S. Here is a road test done by Motor trend on the 750 HP shelby super snake :

" At the 1320 foot marker, the Super Snake clicks off 12.0 seconds flat at 120.1 mph "

Heres a test between the Camaro ss and the gt500.... 130 more hp to the shelby = 29 feet and a tenth faster.

Heres the caddy with the ZL1 motor, 12.3 :

I predict the the 600 hp GT500 will be a half second slower than the 550 hp ZL1.

Ill put 20 bucks on it . :)

Every fucking mod motor needs 100 more hp to go the same speed.

Is there a price for these things yet?

C/D said "around 47k." I guess that's not terrible but is it a better buy than a few year old C6 z06 or even a brand new z51 Vette?

Torque is more important, I couldn't give 2 shits about the marketing hp hype. If 551 lb/ft get the enormous LSA powered 4200 lb CTS-V down the track in 12.3 @ 122, I think the Zl1 with less weight would be looking at a 12.0, maybe high 11s at MIR/Englishtown. I agree, that GT500 with 550hp/510tq should do better than the 12.4s Ive seen, but it still looks haaawwwwt!
