Z06 question.

Yeah gotta drop the whole rear suspension to get the transaxle out to work on it. Then needs a full alignment once it goes back together. I'd counter him at $15k but only after you test drove it to see how bad it feels. Ask if it's the synchro's in just certain gears or many of them. If so it probably saw some hard shifting in some or many gears to wear them out like that.

It's always hard to tell from the pictures, but that car looks like a pretty good buy for $16200, even if it needs a trans freshening.

I have an '03 and drive it daily, winters and all (with snow tires and wheels).

The trans is not that special in the z06, all the parts are still used in Base C6/Z51s so no worries there.

The Z06 has a shorter gearset then the base/Z51's...

and keep in mind, the 01 LS6's pushed/burned a lot of oil...like a quart over 3,000 miles

I hated yellow until I saw it in person. It wasn't my first choice but now I'm happy I have it. A trans for that car wont be too much, for $15k thats a pretty good buy! Good luck!

Try changing the trans fluid first. If that doesn't fix it, drop it off at Phil's. $16k is a fair price.

I think Phil is familiar with these cars and their common problems. ;)

What is Phil sn on here I was looking for someone to go over mine and as soon as spring time gets here.

looks like a small dealer. probably bought the car at auction and don't want to spend more $$ on trans work. could probably haggle a bit more.

Clean trade in on that car is 16,625, and retail is just over $20k, needing a trans it doesnt seem like that much of a deal

This. If it had a lot less miles it'd be a great deal. I mean you might be saving a couple bucks, just depends if that couple bucks is worth your time and hassle.

yea I was thinking that too, $12,500 would have been a good price. I'm still thinking it over. I sent him an email asking about the syncros and how bad it was, he hasn't replied.

ehhhh just throwing it out there!...
someone viewing may not...
either way its a nice ride, and id be all over it aswell...

+1 to what others have said, that is still a good deal. Consider it totally shot and just price in an RPM unit and enjoy the bargain. Years ago I had an 02 Z06, and beat the living snot out of the thing, it never missed a beat. Probably the best reliable bang for the buck on the planet right there.

I will let you drive the living snot out of mine if you let me take yours around the block!

I see a few c5/c6 owners posting in this thread are they any local vette meets? or anything? Also I seen the woodward vette cruise was just insane any of you guys do that?
