A friend of mine just posted this up on a local forum and im just dumbfounded on how dumb some people can be
Ok, there is this Jeep that has come into the shop twice now. It's an 88 wrangler that's been lifted and looks pretty ruff. It is owned by a woman that tells us, "I don't know a thing about cars and stuff, but I take it "Off Road" all the time. (Shoot me in the head).
The first time, suspension parts have fallen off and she would like us to put them back on. And, she would like us to tighten everything underneath because EVERYTHING sounds loose.
I tell her, "No Maam, we are not a suspension shop. We have no experience with lifted suspensions." (Also, I do not want to be held liable for the piece of crap jeep).
Second time, she would like us to replace her brake pads. (Oh, and to tighten up everything underneath.) She says they are in the back of the jeep. I cannot find them, but Jordan does. They are not in a box, they are loose on wet carpet. Completely soaked and rusted. I don't want us to install these questionable pads. Kevin says he is going to pull off a wheel to see if they are even the right pads. This is what we saw.
She has worn her brakes down so badly, that it has shaved ALL of the rotor surface off. I have never, ever seen brakes as bad as these. The caliper was completely over-extended and ruined.
This is all I needed to see. I completely refused this shop to touch this jeep. We told her to take it to a Professional Brake Shop and we didn't recommend her driving anymore.
See, I have to keep the shop in mind when I make these decisions. I cannot afford to let this shop take on a job that can potentially turn bad on us and bite us in the ass. She could have more issues and blame them on us since we last "touched it". Maybe I'm a bit jaded from Wattsound. People were always trying to get something for free from us using these same tricks
