I saw a black newer cheroke diesel the other day in oxford, I was only walking by it, so I didn't get a close look but it had a diesel badge on it, and it was a newer based one.

They already made a diesel Grand Cherokee. I am glad they are bringing it back for $4.10/gallon prices.

anyone know the MPG? what transmission?

It wasn't using a Fiat diesel motor... Fiat knows their shit

The new ones aren't using a FIAT engine either, for the time being most will use VM Motori powerplant....

As already said they've made the Jeep GC's in the 3.0L diesels for years. Ours gets 25mpg doing 75 to 80 on the freeway all-day long, if you baby it you can squeak near 30 out of it on the freeway. Bad thing is at 80 it spings 3k rpm, they've needed another gear for years. 5th+ will do this thing wonders in MPGs.

The Liberty's sucked because they were excessively underpowered and plagued with EGR fouling.
