Considering my last 4 DD's have been grand cherokee's.... YES.
My current (as of yesterday) DD is not a grand cherokee, solely due to the MPG! (now my wife is driving the GC).

Exactly what I'm getting at, I think the diesel option would have to be a real runaway hit before you see it across the board

The show was pretty meh this year. 3-5 really nice cars a few nice, but there was no real big buzz. Yes the Corvette made a bunch of noise, it was a really cool launch to be at, the Ford Atlas truck, is very interesting, and the Toyota Corolla concept (90%) of what the car will look like were it.
The Lincoln MKc, won't be on sale for 12 months or so, but it will look 95% of what the show car is, that is a car Lincoln needs in their showroom last week! Couple interesting new Kia's, The Chevy & GMC 1500's are as disappointing as you think they are. The leather in the SRT8 Grand Cherokee is some of the nicest I've seen in a domestic car in a VERY long time, and if I had $100K I'd be in line for the Audi RS7! 560 horse TT-V8, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, and an interior you'll only find in something north of $175K.

The last CRD cherokee motor had its issues for sure and couldnt handle any Boidiesel whatsoever. I had a 2006 Liberty diesel and the thing got 26 mpg and was 4wd and was a sweet car except its a chicks car. Vw has great diesels, its just thier electronics kind of stink in my opinion. Ive had a couple VW diesel wagons with 5-speeds and they easily get 45mpg with 4 people in it on the highway doing 75mph. I mean 45mpg actual not what the manufactures are computing lately. 50mpg is local 2 lane mileage when you drive it sensible.
Contrary to previous comments, I think diesel wagons and smaller pickups like a Ranger or maybe a diesel Wrangler would be a huge hit if the domestics would get on board. People love wagons, look at the resale of Saturn wagons compared to their 4 door cousins. BTW the 2005-2006 VM Libertys were discontinued not because they werent selling, they were selling too well from my understanding. The newer cherokees where just way overpriced with the 3.0 MB diesel to be succesful sellers.
