Will the Auto Trans in the ZL1 be the deciding factor vs. the Shelby in 1/4 supremacy......

Of course an auto is better for running 9s. Stock for stock the GT-500 will be quicker. Period. And you will owe me a steak dinner in addition to whatever you owe me for the ass whoopin' you're going to take next week.

590rwhp and it went under 122mph?? That car must be heavy as hell, it should trap 130+ all day.

NO!!! Simply the driver will be to limiting factor. The new Shelby is going to devastate that ZL1.. This is a video of a 5.4L Shelby with bolt on's.. What do you think in going to happen with a bigger better motor, heads, intercooler, and the simple fact they can bolt on a slick and launch the car without having to worry about half shafts flying into the bleachers.. cute video though, looks intimidating lol

Maybe you ought to read the Livernois post from earlier.....

Plus...this video is kinda missing the target....look at the mods...on C16 with a 4.0L whipple....really?

Another great night at the track. The Lethal Performance 2010 GT500 made its way deeper into the 9's cracking off a [email protected]. The weather was in the 60's with a little bit of moisture in the air. Jeremy Martorella of UPR Products pulled the car up to the line for our first run of the evening. With the 2 step set at 2100 he made the launch. First gear looked awesome and so did the 1-2 shift.. However after the shift the car broke loose and started going sideways but Jeremy's professional race experience got the car back in the groove and down the rest of the track shifting as fast as an automatic could. As he passes the traps the board lit up with a [email protected]. The car ran 114.14mph through the 1/8th. This is still using a 4" pulley on the 4.0L Whipple which produces 21.5psi. We were using C16 with no methanol and this is blower only. We're going to continue working on the suspension and once it's dialed in we'll turn up the boost. Our goal is to make an 8 second pass with the 6 speed making it the first GT500 in the 8's with a manual transmission.

Big thanks to everyone involved. Correct i was simply using this video as an example.. Put a Pulley, tune, exhaust, and a tire on a car that already makes 650+ from the factory. I suspect mid-high 10's @145 plus with the factroy blower. Also you posted a video of a modified camaro, correct? The shelby seen in the video i posted only had bolt on's and the driver left his purse at home..

OK, so using your theory.....I can buy a stock 2013 Shelby, do a pulley, tune and exhaust and run 9's.

Yet it took lidio's Mach 1 a 5.0L stroker, a 2.8L blower, 110 octane, 150 shot of nitrous and all the other goodies to run 9.80's....plus that car had an auto.

Get back to me when the 2013's start hitting the track and we shall see what happens.

edited my post sorry i was a little worked up.. Yes, Tim the power potential of a 5.4L with GT heads is ridiculous!! Lid's Mach was creeping up on 21-22psi and with a hit of spray would struggle to make 750-780 hp on race gas, etc.. that goal is obtainable with a 5.4L a shelby on pump gas. The 2013 has many performance / horsepower oriented revisions that will make 145mph in the 1/4 mile come that much easier. Things have changed.. The ZL1 is a bad ass ride no doubt it makes lots of power, it's cute, Big emblems, louvers, graphics, gimmicks, hype, etc... when push comes to shove the shelby is the veteran. don't cry Tim..

Another example of a pretty fast stick shift car..... I give a lot more credit to someone running deep into the 9's with a manual trans.

Livernois just got their ZL1 in the 9s with heads, cam, and bolt-ons. I love this. The horsepower wars are alive and kicking!

But, with the GT500 you won't have to do this much modding to get it to go this fast. In fact, I think it will require simply turning up the boost on the factory supplied blower, a tire, and a few other simple tricks and they will be this fast.

Have to say that the automatic is sweet, though.

Don't care. I will never run at the "Ring". It's not even on my bucket list. But I could run at Milan 3 or 4 times a WEEK! It's the most legit place for most of us to cut loose. Don't get me wrong, I love the Ring videos and recognize it as a timing standard. Still, I can relate to the drags.

These are pony cars anyway.
