whoes crash at ubly is this?

Damn you had me nervous. Cause I know my buddies dad was just at Ubly this weekend.

Sorry to hear about this though. Car looks in rough shape. Just glad the owner made it out OK.

That was 2-3 years ago.. Not sure who the guy is but i'm pretty sure there was a thread on here about it right after it happened.

Edit:
David Roy of St. Clair Shores got caught in a spin-out last Saturday with his 1985 Ford Thunderbird at Ubly Dragway. At close to 100 miles per hour, he slammed into the guardrail and momentum brought the rear-end of his car up over and airborne for about 100 feet, where it hit for the first of several bounces.
Roy was unhurt, thanks to a well-built roll cage, and other proper safety equipment in the race car.

That was that "dyno dave" guy. That's why I won't run at Ubly unless it's with a slower car. Concrete barriers keep the cars in, guardrails just launch the car.

I seen everything i was behind him i was coming to do my burn out,

crazt shiit there

ubly needs to do some work to the gard rails

he launches at 0:56 and is hitting the wall at 1:00

I know that car is hauling but 0-100+ in 4 seconds?

If I understand correctly that was a high 8 second car. That would put the 1/8 mile in the 5's and over 120mph. So it likely went 120+mph in 5.6-5.8 seconds, close to 100 in 4 seconds might not be too far off.

fair enough then, i can tell he's doin at least 80 guess the video doesnt do it justice.

I'll never forget that crash. I was standing next to his mother when it happend. She just started screaming my son my son and running down there. The violence of the crash and from where I was it looked as if it went into the crowd. It was definately a scary moment for sure.

this is one i will never forget also. i was in the blue ranier in the right lane dave was the pair in front on me. ill never forget seeing the car launch over the guard rail from the starting line

Yep, its Dave Roy. Dyno Daves son. I was there when that happened. It was a big inch winsor with some NOS and a 28x10.5 tire. Car went 9.0's prior to that. Talked to Dave a couple of weeks ago and hes putting a mustang together and using that motor.

i took that video. i couldnt believe what i was seeing. usually i have all the action directly in the middle of the frame, and i dont miss much when i record something. but that startled me so bad, i missed part of it out of the camera. haha. he was fine, i talked to him for a lil bit after the crash, and i also helped put/drag the car on to the trailer. i must have showed that video to 100 people at the track that day. i was a celebrity. "the kid who got the crash on video" hahahaha
