I used to live in Troy and work in Troy. That sucked. It always felt like I was at work even when I was at home.
Commuted for a while from Holly to Sterling Heights. Most of the time it wasn't too bad, but generally that last 10-15 miles on my way home sucked. The whole time I was thinking how nice it would be to be home already.
Currently I have a 600 mile round trip, but I only have to make it once a quarter and they pay for my fuel/hotel.
Work to home commute is only part of the equation. At least as important (to me) is how close the home is to local restaurants, grocery stores, sports stadiums, race tracks, etc. That's something I really disliked when I was up in Holly and Fenton. Always felt like I had to drive 10+ miles to get anything. Gets old, real quick. I also noticed that no one ever came to visit when I lived in the boonies.
