Where is the MAF?

I hate to post this as I'm sure I'm going to get raggd on uncontrollably... but I cant find it.

I have a 99 A4 1.8L Turbo and got a engine CEL code of P0103 MAF or VAF a circuit high input. I want to remove the MAF and clean it to see if that solves the issue before I go get a new one. Except.. well I can't find it. LOL I have looked all around the airbox.. from the turbo to the intercooler and from the intercooler to the throttle body. I cant find anything that even resembles a MAF sensor. I have been searching the internet looking for pics but cant find any of it's location.

+1 to all that help

THanks

Patrick

It should be right after the filter box or it may be a part of the box, should have a 4-5 pin connector.

haha I got that from chiltons but the autozone stuff says its on the opposite side of the car and the pic does look like its in the lid

Do you have access to a scan tool? If so, what are the values in MVB 32? It probably is not the MAF.

Nope... the car wont drive anywhere and a buddy had one of those cheap scanners like at autoone.

And it was inside the airbox. I took it apart and it looks clean as can be

Where the fresh air comes into the airbox there is a fine screen (on the airbox) is this completely clean? If you have shop air and the airbox is apart blow through it backwards to clean.

i took it completely off... with just the MAF sensor connected to the intake hose. Car still ran like shit. CEL is still on. everything is very clean.
