Where can I borrow or rent a scan tool.

Have a 99 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0. Have a no start issue with a check engine light. I read online that I need a scan tool for my year Jeep and cannot use the on/off method with the key to get the code on the dash. Anyone in my area have one or can they be rented?

You will likely need a scanner that can monitor parameters during cranking.

Do some basic checks first, fuel pressure, spark, blown fuses, etc.

Thanks everyone. Called my brother in laws brother. He said he would be over in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later found out he got in an accident at 12 Mile and Gratiot. He was driving an older Porsche. So when he got home I went and picked it up.
