When did you become a MM????

It's been a while. I started with the user name "Zahalar" but I kept forgetting my login info, so I created a new user in 2008 and have used that one ever since. But it was a very long time ago to be sure.

here we go, This is my original account. Haven't used it in so long I even forgot it until today.

Some classic early on content for sure. We're we just down the road from someone's G-parents?. :) I always love seeing Tanner rowing gears. So many great videos from the early year on that link.

That was my grandparents. A bunch of us stayed there one year. They sold that house a few years ago and bought a place in FL.

Here are some more of my memories of those early days:
- Meeting up at Electric Stick in Westland a number of times.
- At least one Kart 2 Kart meet up but I think that was the only one I ever went to. They had regulars racing with us and every time I caught up to their regulars and started mixing it up with them, they would slow my car down. Needless to say I was not too happy with that after spending all that money to race and vowed never to return. And I have never returned! :D
- The ghost flames on Eric's (Roadrage) silver TA.
- Going to at least two of the M events at Mid Michigan Motorplex.
- Getting both of my Camaro's to St. Thomas for one of our events but I can't remember who I let drive the convertible.
- Or maybe it was Grand Bend? I know we went to Grand Bend as well. I should have pictures and videos of these somewhere
- My first time down the strip in my '02 Z28. It was at Ubly and I think there were a number of Motown members there. We went at least twice so I don't remember who went each time. My best stock time was a 13.47 @ 105ish and after $300 in mods and drag radials it ran a 12.9 @ 110ish. I want to say Rob (I don't remember his screen name. Mustang guy who is a plumber), maybe Rod
- Second trip to Ubly and there was definitely Motown peeps there. I know Val (315plus) was there cause he was betting on my races and I think the Icks, maybe James (IndyZ28) and Rod? and I know George (Torxilla) was there with his Z06 when it was still stock because I have a video of me racing him. I have videos of this trip so if I could find them, it may shake some memories loose.
- A trip to Norwalk where I somehow managed to pull off the third to second shift and not even bend a push rod or damage anything thanks to a very quick reaction on the clutch pedal.
- Trying to help ChrisJ get the supercharger on his IROC when he was battling cancer. I gave him a ride in my '02 Z28 as well. That may have been the last time I saw him before he passed away.
- Attending some street races on the Industrial Drive by Rick's (99SaleenSpeedster) house with Stenod, Harlan and that whole crew on more than one occasion.
- The arcade Rick's Dad had in their basement!

The crazy thing is there are a lot more folks that I hung out with at least at the events and I have a hard time remembering their names any more. There was even a member who moved down to the pan handle of Florida and I hung out with him one day/night during Spring Break in Panama City Beach and I somehow can't remember his name. :( Time has not been kind to my memories. I do remember Tanner and his badass LT1 Camaro, Steve (Derty) and his fast Trans Am. Darren with his fast LT1 T/A convertible, Val (315Plus) and his fast T/A. Was it Coach B or something like that with the Green T/A? Who was Frezza's roommate with the green Corvette and the dog (basset hound or beagle maybe)?

Heck, I don't think I have even mentioned Dave (DeFormula) yet and I have hung out with him a number of times at different track events. Sorry, Dave! I didn't forget you buddy! :)

I definitely remember your Zarken screen name and I know we met at least a couple of times but for some reason I am going blank on your name.

Yeah, I have met most of the old crew either through Milan, Woodward, a house party, or just messing around behind oil shops doing burnouts next to the police station.

Ahh, the good old days lol.

Names Brian btw.

I guess I can be lumped in with the bunch that came from the CZ28 clan early on - migrated over here from the Michigan section of that board back when MM was running an earlier version and a bit different than now. I think the current board started in August or September 2003 and then I re-registered again shortly after.

Ahhh, the superballs... I guess that the statute of limitations has passed now Rick so we can be honest. Whoever serviced the superball machine last left it unlocked and as I was looking at it I realized the lid could completely open. After walking around back to where everyone was gathered after dinner they were getting passed out and I think there were others that made a few trips back to the machine. I still have one or two of those things in my toolbox back in the US. What a fun evening that was. I seem to remember being back in a certain hotel room and saw some interesting things... Dave, weren't you the one stripped down naked and in the bathtub?

Yes, that was a great MM event for sure. I think we're all safe to share at this point lol. Hmmm Dave...??? :) I said MM event but it was an M event. :)

It had to be right at the beginning, if you weren't a "founding member", you (and Denny) were damn close.
Yes, the youngster were there, and Patrick still remember them being the MM party host at DTE when we almost got busted for scalping tickets by Oakland County's finests lol. :)

It really sounds like Motown Muscle is waaaaaaay
overdue for a simple, casual get together?

For sure, we need to pick out a spot... that is kid friendly just to get people out this year when they are ready to visit.

I would love to have a MM track meetup/hang out!
I will block off an area or whatever is needed to have some fun!
I want a MM track day skip all this 6 am cars and coffee stuff :) (its cool but lets have some fun racing too lol)
Good sir, I'm not "official" anymore but we'd love to get out to hang out under your flag. :) I have to admit... It hurt to see J D getting to say he grew up watching your stuff when we have been lucky enough to see you hustle from day one. :)

came here 2004-2005 ish Brian turbobuick got me here

So you are admitting like many of us... you are positive for having contact with Brian??? :) It's not curable,... but there are many things that are more unhealthy that known you know Mr B. :) You're safe among friends. :)

I knew which one of the "icks" it was, but to be safe... I couldn't put it in writing without knowing how safe the house was after the Grand Bend event lol. But I'm glad they have moved to the south. And yes, I'm jealous of the game room. :)

Scott, those are some excellent memories on that list for sure.

For the newer guys, I'm just trying to share some of the history that we have here. It's now 20+ years. It's nutz but many of our cars are almost official for the Woodward cruise lane lol. To the point that this 2001 in my clip is not too shabby with a 2007 LS2 barn find. I just wish we all had the youtuber money for things they claim to "new" that were done 15+ years ago lol. :)

I drove the LT1 car, who else would be qualified?!?

Great Stories, some I remember & others (too many) are a blur, but ALL were a blast. All you young whipper snappers couldn't even grow facial hair LOL. This group is without doubt the MOST diversified assembly of knowledge I've ever know, No matter what question you asked, someone either knew the answer or somebody that did.
.

As one of the Dinosaurs here, thanks for ALL the memories. The privelidge & pleasure has been all mine. Road trips to Grand Bend, Norwalk, St, Thomas, Mid Michigan, Ubbly, Lapeer, & along with the Christmas Parties at Duggan's

THANKS
George TORXILA Gray

I figured it was either you or Eric since you were both LT1 certified but I couldn't remember if Eric was even legally allowed to cross an international border at that time. :D:roll:

I was legally allowed to cross the border....I just wasn't legally allowed to drive for a short period of time....from 1997-2010.

I'll never forget the first time I met you. St Thomas Dragway pulling up in your Mercedes (E55?). My first though was "Is this guy lost?".
