Whats the skinny on Bosch oil filters?

Going to do my oil and was checking advance's site for specials. They have a synthetic deal with 5 quarts of castrol syntec and a bosch oil filter for 27 bucks.

Sounds like a good deal but I don't know anything about the Bosch filters. I didn't even know Bosch made filters.

Any input about these? Is it a rebadged purolator or fram?

Not completely relevant to your post, but... walmart has the 5 quart jugs of mobil 1 conventional oil for 11.00, thats a better deal than the auto parts store, I usually use wix motorcraft or delco filters

I really don't know the history or quality of them but I'll choose bosch over fram if they have them for my vehicle. I have never had a bad experience with fram, but I've heard so many stories.

Only Wix or Mobil 1 filters and Mobil 1 oil in my TA though.

I think bobistheoilguy.com has a big article where someone disected every filter out there and figured out who makes what and which ones are good and which ones are junk. I know I've seen the article of all the cut apart filters somewhere, it pretty much has to be on that site.

reiko sells WIX and walmart has 5 quart jugs of mobil one for 23.50 so 28.50 and you basically have the best of both worlds (waiting for some amsoil slappy to show up and preech)

Walmart has damn good deals. I got Penzoil Platinum and a filter for like $23 when it was on sale. That is damn cheap for a full synthetic oil change for the DD. I could care less what brand it is for that price. Oil filters I'm kind of picky for the Camaro though. Only K&N, Mobil 1 or Amsoil.

those are wix filters in a different box, If you watch the sales parts plus will do 30% off wix filters if you buy 50.00 or more in filters and you get a free hat :w00t:

I believe it. Just makes me feel better. Definitly better than fram. :D

I bought 5 of them from him last season. So unless something changed. I'm hoping to buy 6 or so this week. I better call n check

I had a Bosch on the Camaro towards the end of last season. I just pulled it off during my disassembly for the spring upgrades over the weekend.

I have run FRAM, Some white one (can't remember which brand). Never had a problem with any of them. I always run Mobil 1 oil in there too.

After personally "hearing" the valve train noise on Ford's new 3v with camshaft phasers when equipped with el cheapo filters, I am a believer in the Motorcraft for any FoMoCo product.
