so my bad luck on buying cars seems to have followed me and my girlfriend this time

Saturday we ended up buying a Lincoln mkx , dealer took her car in as a trade in ( 09 g5 gt with almost 100k on it , gave her 4k as a trade in , I thought it was pretty generous but didn't complain ) , anyway we test drove the mkx and she loved it , but I noticed the passenger airbag light on the dash was lit up , told the dealer and they said absolutely we will fix it just give us a call Monday ( they were closing already and not open sunday ) and we will fix the problem ( seems like its the pressure plate in the front passenger seat that's bad ) dealer gave us a warranty for 30days on the entire vehicle and say they will fix anything as long as we take it there to get fixed , so Monday we call them 2 times and get the oh we will call you back ( no call back ) today we called back 2 times and got the same thing and once again no call back , so it got me thinking and me and my girlfriend called a Lincoln dealer and scheduled a inspection of the car ( 100bucks I think it was ) and were taking it to them Thursday with the intention that we will take it back to the dealer we got it from and give them the paperwork from the Lincoln dealer and have them fix it and any other thing they may find , but with our dealer not returning any of our calls were scared were not going to be able to get the vehicle fixed or that our dealer is just going to dick us around for 30days and then were screwed because the warranty is up , ive got Friday and Saturday off so my plan is to just go up there Friday morning when they open and drop the vehicle off and say ill be back before you close to pick it up ( she cant be without a vehicle for to long )

am I panicking to early ? what would you guys do ? ....... everything about the vehicle seems fine other than the airbag light

Sounds like you are putting the cart in front of the horse. Are you calling your salesman or the service dept?

I would call and schedule the appt with the service dept and then call and notify your salesman. When you drop the car off for the inspection dont sign anything stating you are agreeing to a diag fee. Have the salesman sign it saying they will. It shouldve already had the inspection performed, you can pull the service history there to show it and it should show all work declined by the sales dept. They usually write-up sales the same way they write up customers. Anyway, if they give you BS and dont want to fix it, let them know they sold you a car with a safety defect...etc etc etc

Is it an A lot or a B lot? If it's a B lot i'd be skeptical and err on the side of caution and do whatever you need to do to remedy the issue. If it's an A lot i'd do as Mustangmike suggested.

LaFontaine did the same thing to my girl when she bought her Celica back in like 2006.

They swore up and down they would fix a bad bulb and a rubber trim piece that went along the roof. We got there to finalize the paperwork the next day and they said they didn't get around to fixing it yet.

We ended up buying it on the promise that they would fix the issue. What a mistake that was. What we should have done was told them we weren't signing anything until it was fixed. The run around they gave us over a $10 piece of trim that is glued in was unreal.

Oh, and they sold her a warranty for $1500, the warranty company declined the coverage, but they didn't notify us and kept the money. That was another battle that went on for weeks until finally we went inside and announced louder than normal what happened in front of other customers. After about a week, she got a check for $1500.

They sold the car and the only incentive they have to fix it is keeping their word, which unfortunately when it comes to business sometimes gets put on the back burner while they do other activities that are actually making them money. In the future, tell them you can't sign anything until it's fixed. When it's fixed, I will come in and sign the paperwork. See how fast they get it done when a sale is contingent on the fix.

If it's a B lot in your area chances are it was a hacked together salvage car and they just made it your problem. I hope not for you however, there are too many "too good to be true" deals around there.

What is the name of the dealer? I can see if I know someone over there. Let me know.

its a b lot

and we scheduled the service with an actual Lincoln dealer ( totally different place than ware we got it from ) and any findings of the Lincoln dealer we will be going straight up to the dealer we got it from having them either fix it or fork over a check to get it fixed

cars not salvaged or ever been wrecked , car fax shows 1 owner and 0 accidents on record and 1 recall called the Lincoln dealer its a gas tank strap , the dealer we got it from gave up the full car fax print out

id rather not throw the dealer name out there incase im just jumping the gun , it is near down town Plymouth thow

Most B lots suck and will tell you anything to get you to buy the car. And those warranties are a sales tactic. If you look at the contract the deductible is probably anywhere from $100-$1000 and only covers the actual engine and transmission, everything else is on you. Also look at the warranty limit. Some are as low as $500 meaning they won't pay anything over $500 on a claim and that's if you jump through their hoops.

ill re read everything when she gets off work , don't recall seeing anything saying how much they will or wont cover , was just a full 30 day warranty on everything

we also decided to not give them the title to her old car she traded in until this issue gets taken care of .,. or is there some other way they can get the title by jumping threw hoops ?

they cant get a title easily they would have to apply for a lost title,

It will cost them $50 to get a new one if they are smart, most B-lots have played that game before, probably had you sign lost title papers while you were signing up the deal. They might cave, but don't put all your stock in it.

cool so theres my leverage lol , fix my car or go threw the hassle of getting a title on a car that has a lien

I had assumed it was from an A lot.

Since it is a B lot, it will be a bit harder to get what you want because they dont have any se image to uphold like a dealership, amoungst other things.

However, seeing as they sold you a car with a potential safety issue, you have more leverage than if it were just a check engine light.

Also, just because the Carfax checks out and it has a clear title doesnt mean it was not "totalled" I have seen many cars come thru the dealerships that have been hacked together and have a clean title. You should go over it with a finetooth comb and then go over it again.

ive checked ever bit of this car in and out , up and down , theres no sign of any damage ever , so signs or paint or body work ( checked it with a magnet ) one of the paint and body ones that tells you the depth of any body filler ( forgot the name ) ..... looks like the car was a repo and the lot we got it from bought it at auction

Trust me when I say those used car warranty's they sell cover less than 1/2 of the repair required..... I deal with them all the time.... your lucky if you can get them to send you a junk yard trans with 150k+ miles on it to replace the ones that's bad. Not worth the paper they are written on.

I had a similar issue with a local Lincoln dealer here in my area, the car we bought was purchased with an extended warranty from Ford and it was still a nightmare getting them to repair it properly. The car ended up having a bad transmission, they gave me the run around for months.

Only advice I can give is keep putting pressure on them, social media is also powerful tool. No dealer wants reviews out there of nightmare stories and keep away reviews.
