what to do about neighbor's dogs

have you made friends with the dogs, mine do the same thing, but all they want is a little attention. if they bark at the neighbors which they usually don't but if they do, all the neighbor has to do is come up to the fence and pet them and then they shut up. try making friends with the dogs, and a couple treats don't hurt either.

talk to them.. if it dont stop call the police and a file a noise complaint.. it helped cut back A LOT on our neighbors dogs

^This should help.

Unless you live in Fenton like we do. Then you will find they have no noise/nuisance ordinance for our area. We've got a barker behind us on their 40 acres. Non-stop all night. The dog really started up after we told them to pound sand in regards to haying our fields (we are on 14 acres without a tractor yet). Then it, oddly enough, started to bark more.

Privacy fence. Done.

The old "Good fences make for great neighbors"

Living so far out in the country, with so few neighbors
(two), should be the biggest selling point for our house!

Our neighbors dog in Dearborn ( I live with a buddy down there during the week) is the same way.. barks like crazy til i go over and pet it and say hi.. Most dogs bark cause they want attn. but im not about to walk across the st everytime the dog barks here in Fenton.

I'm a dog lover, I really am. In fact my G/F has a 5lb maltese and 10lb mutt. Well the neighbor behind us has a german shepard and a pitbull

Whenever I'm in the yard, or the dogs are in the yard, their dogs go bizzerk The german shepard stands on its back legs and front legs over the chain link fence going crazy. I swear one of these days it'll jump over that fence. the pit bull just runs back and forth barking like it wants to play.
If either come over that fence, I'm taking a shovel, 2x4, whatever is handy and blasting it upside the head.
The owners (who I haven't met yet) don't seem to care. They let the dogs in the back yard for hours at a time... the dogs bark at the squirrels, birds, clouds, frickin' everything - nonstop.

Recommendations? How should I handle this? I'm thinking of putting up a wood stockade fence, but I'm sure this will piss off the dog owners. I guess the previous owner's dog used to run back and forth along the fence with these dogs and were friends, but it seems like the German Shepard wants to eat both my g/f's dogs. (which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but...)

ahhhh.... city life.

i think I'll take a picture and post it up tonight.

If you hit my GSD with a Shovel, he would of laughed at you and then ripped your leg off.

Start by talking to the owners, if that doesn't work then put up a big privacy fence.

I'd try to talk to them first, but I still wouldn't do the fence. Like I said, when they let their dog continue to bark and bark and bark at you, take an extention cord and plug a radio in facing directly towards their house. I'd play the opposite of whatever kind of music you'd expect they like. I bet that they don't let the dog continue to bark or if they do, just turn it up louder  Had to use this method on a neighbor behind my house where I could see them looking out at their dogs(notice I said dogs) that kept barking at me while trying to do yard work and they magically don't do it anymore. My dog looks at the other dogs barking and kinda gives a look like "wtf is wrong with those dog" and just walks away and ignores them lol.

I had to go to the neighbors behind me's house yesterday to reattach some planks from my fence. We were talking about the annoying barky Doberman. he tells me that the dog recently bit the owner and she had to go to the hospital for stitches (made me even happier I had the fence up...even if it didn't stop the barking)

Then they let they dog out and he was standing next to me...startled me a little. Strangely the dog didn't bark at me for the entire time I was in the neighbors yard. Apparently he only likes to bark at me when I am in my yard
