What is the best route to go? My dads 99 GT blew its engine..

Long story short, my dads stock GT 99 Mustang his car has been running like shit all summer, found a hairline crack in the intake too little too late. In the same week we found the cracked intake problem another problem came up, one thing led to another and his engine overheated and he has little to no compression in a few cylinders now.

With his engine being blown he's looking to find what his options are from here and where the best place to look for a new engine may be. He wants something with a little more guts, he always had but never knew the best way to go about it without breaking the bank too much and keeping his daily reasonable.

I told him now is his chance to swap a 32 valve into it, only thing is i don't know how reasonable that would be. Question 1 is where would you go about finding something to drop into it in a reasonable amount of time? Question 2, what kinda engines can you put into this generation of mustangs, if he had his own way i think he'd put a 5.0 in it or a 351 but i was weary the engine bay lacks the capacity. I don't want to assume or say much else about what to do since that usually leads to me saying something stupid to those who know what they're talking about.

So i just need some opinions and help from those of you who have worked with this generation of mustang before, whats the best way to get this thing back up and running before Woodward?

Thanks ahead of time,

Tony

Picture to give you an idea of what he's driving, personally i hate yellow, and convertibles, but i love this car..

Is It an auto or a stick ?
Is he on a budget or willing to spend some cash ?
Does he want to stay fuel Injected ?
Does he want to go fast ot real fast ?

i did a 32v swap in my car almost 2 years ago its really not hard.. but finding a 2v longblock is the cheapest and easiest, pm if you want more info on the swap

Just because I want to be the first person to suggest it...LSx swap.

On a serious note, I support either a long block of a 4v swap.

Well. You can swap a 4v in it but unless your getting a mark 8 motor your going to spend a couple grand probably more on a forged crank 8 bolt cobra motor. There's more than a few options with 4vs too. You can get a b head mark or cobra motor and swap valve covers to accomodate cop plus wires will need to be extended and such.or you can get a 99-02 cobra motor which has c heads and a couple more horses. Basically the cheapest easiest route will be a longblock 2v. I'd suggest some head work and a nice set of cams and upgrade he valve train a little to get that extra bit of power he's looking for and of course some headers if you don't already have them.

Its a 5 speed, he's on a budget ish but will spend the extra money if it's worth it. I think he'd be willing to put a carbureted engine on there if the set up was right, he hates the complication and hastle of efi being as every fast car he's ever owned had a 4 barrel of some kind of on it in the past. And he just wants to go fast, not real fast, just.. faster than other stock cars

I am not a mustang owner but from what I have done on others cars and seen from friends:

I would say try to find a 99-02 Cobra motor...
They have plenty of guts factory, and when you put it in put on headers, and the other basic bolt on stuff while your in there.

Plenty of power, reliable , easy to use without the "hassle" of a carb
As he wants more power or gets used to it he can do other small things to uncork it a bit.

I am just thinking it might be a bit more $$$ up front but might be an easier option with what he is looking to do.
