What is the best route to go? My dads 99 GT blew its engine..

I would buy a stock used motor and just put it back together. Peicing out a swap motor is gonna be a PITA. Getting a donor car is the best and only way to do it IMO.

Also, that's too nice of a car to hack in some carb'd motor.

x2

Carbing that car would be silly. It's already set up for EFI. Worst case you have to change the computer and get an adapter for 2v-4v. Much less work than setting it up for a carb.

a 4v Swap Is Really easy! All The sensors ona 2v and 4v Are The same, so you reuse your 2v harness and computer. it will fire up without a tune and run fine, but to take adavantage of the A/F ratio you are going to have to get a tune...
Id still Go for a 5.4 based motor though! or a LS motor.

I've got a nice 79k mile 1998 4.6 4V from a Mark VIII ... still in the car if you guys want to hear it run. Best bang for the buck IMO.

99 4v cobra motor, Supercharged with an eaton blower making mid 400's to the wheel. Come buy it.

Pm me with a price so i can run it by my dad. Its more power than he's looking for but hey, it couldn't hurt for the right price right???

Okay, so my dad is about to start paying me to get a little more urgency behind this search. He said he just wants a little more crisp response and speed than the stock 4.6 has, but the catch here is he wants me to get as much information on what his options are and who sells what so he can have this car back up and running for the dream cruise. So i'm about to spend a day on the phone calling around, i just need to know if anyone here can refer me to places that they actually purchased the engine from? I don't know where to start with this
