What happened to all the old street racers???

Ok let's go back... Ed Guskey (spelling?) were is he now? I remember going out to Burt Road I think it was and watching the big race He had with Hillbilly. Shit that car went 9.90-9.80 back in 84-85 and was way stupid fast.

well, i do remember hearing about the silver bullet coming down to race our local guy, red smith, on m-151 back in the day. pretty legendary stuff

Wowww this thread has gone well. I see alot of names I have not seen in years. Along with good positive responses. Keep them coming. I like the pic og the old mopar reminds me of the Rathbones they alway had some crazy old mopars 4 doors and ugly but fast.

here's some vintage thunder valley. it was a little more primitive back then....

(Looks like a bunch of shots for the track... umm definitely not street racing.)

The Police.

/end of thread.

Thats the main reason I bought Salamis Camaro, it needed alot of upgrades but the historic value is awesome. It was worth all the work Gilsbach and we have done to make it a solid Drag Car again and I cant wait to get it done.

well.......this era pre-dates cam-corders. we'd of had a field day with the newer technology. back then that car was our street racer, and a damn good one. as a matter of fact i recall meeting butch brown at detroit dragway and him begging us to sell/trade him this car. he said he'd make a killing street racing it. he had a red/white/blue '66 belvedere with a hemi. i know we drove up to check out his car, but we decided to keep ours.

sorry for getting so far off-topic......

I heard recently that Gutskey was real sick and not doing well. A SUPER good guy who has fallen on some hard times. Too bad. The Camaro is long gone from what I understand.
