Weird coolant issue

I know this is the pub but I'm not looking for help, just opinions, as I am not moving forward with any repair.

Over the summer my Audi A4 was leaking coolant like a siv. There was a huge puddle under the car and the reservoir was dropping rapidly. I couldn't see where it was coming from.

So I ran water in it and the leak never came back. It's been months now and the car hasn't lost a drop.

I'm assuming maybe the thermostat didn't open or there was air in the system and it overheated and caused it to boil over the overflow.

Thoughts?

x2 on the pressure test.

Could be a rotting out or damaged core that (somehow) sealed itself shut again

Water pump seal
head gaskets
intake gasket
etc

can you really give the engine a visual inspection and look for any traces of water, sometimes it will discolor the aluminum.
