just a thought.....why not go to GOVdeals.com, buy another durango, but slightly more beat up then yours with your combo for around 3500-4k (or less even), pull the good engine and put it in yours, and part the rest out? body shops would be killen for these parts i bet. (do a little more research first)
 
These engines are expensive basically because they all need to be replaced at some point. Many sooner than others. And that's what drives the price up.

Yes, that is an option I'm also looking at, but
I really don't have the time to play with this.

I'm finding this to be true! I knew better than to buy a
Dodge product, but did it anyway - live & learn!
