just a thought.....why not go to GOVdeals.com, buy another durango, but slightly more beat up then yours with your combo for around 3500-4k (or less even), pull the good engine and put it in yours, and part the rest out? body shops would be killen for these parts i bet. (do a little more research first)
These engines are expensive basically because they all need to be replaced at some point. Many sooner than others. And that's what drives the price up.
