Vortec 4200 I-6 Turbo IROC-Z

I figure low boost, hot air, meth... and maybe more boost, ice water, meth when I want to lean on it. A heat exchanger setup might be cool, or not. Looking at a stock location Buick intercooler also or a different small air/air.

Another alternative is e85. Since its a ground up build might be something to consider. I have read you do not need an inter cooler with e85.

The original plan was nuts... The plan was a 500hp/1000ft-lb Duramax/Allison combo... luckily this new plan is a LOT cheaper. And lighter.:)

I was just talking about this motor with my boss today...There is a Nova Wagon going 8 something with a 4200/Turbo setup.

I have been planning this setup for about a year now.. I have the iroc waiting at a friends house.... I just have not bought a motor for mine.

The turbo bits are pretty easy nowadays.... If you want some help getting it going on the factory ECU I can help.

Very cool, I'd like to see your progress for sure.

There is a local guy who will flash a base tune for me. All of the non essentials in the computer turned off, etc. He made a write up of getting this engine started with very minimal wiring. I'll find it and post it up.

Oilpan is complete. 8qt rear sump. Very compact oil pickup. Slosh control. Turbo drain. Oldschool Volkswagon dipstick. :) Front section is 1.5" tall. As shallow as the main girdle allows.

Yes it is a 100% stock 2006 Trailblazer engine. I will only be able to push about 3-5psi of boost on the stock injectors but I just want it running before changing anything from stock. It barely fits under the stock hood but I did it. Stock k member also which makes it not very easy.

Love this project. You could really make this thing scream in the future just by beefing up the right parts and turning it up. Also, that doesn't look like a PT1000 to me, looks way bigger, almost like the old pt1800.

Great idea and great project, looking forward to seeing it out there.
