Tow company damages car and say their not responsbile to pay?

I saw mention of the t case using a clutch pack for auto mode, if that is the case, it should need power to the transfer case to apply the clutch. So while it wouldn't be good to have a speed differential across the clutch for that distance because of neutral drag, it wouldn't kill it and it wouldn't hurt the transmission as the trans output wouldn't even be spinning. Now if there is a differential in the transfer case, that's another story, that thing would be f'd.

Im not 100% on the way its set up on that particular truck, i know in my explorer it uses a viscus coupler to detect rear wheel speed change to simultaneously kick in the front wheel drive portion. However, my buddy said when they were trying to push it a little in neutral b4 the second tow truck came it was binding and making some racket from under the front end.... Like i said, im going to try to get a copy of the repair order from him.

My Dad's 2000 is AWD

No it's not.

They never made an AWD Expedition. They are all either 4x2 or 4x4. If it's 4x4 it has a part time transfer case that is automatically shifted to 4wd if the speed sensors have different reads from the front to rear wheels.

Sounds like your buddies truck had issues with the 4x4 system or the front diff. Might not be the tow companies fault after all, but without a teardown nobody knows for sure

What tow company?

We have used them for 30yrs and they are great for us. One of their part time guys works as tech here.

some of the guys.

one towed one of our big trucks, told him to pull driveshaft, he said it wasnt needed, required.............hehehehe YESSSSS IT WAS!

they are really busy towing all of our brand new E350's now. they are dropping like flies, sometimes 2-3x a day! hahahaha

t-aint diesels, its not a ford warranty issue with them. so far 40 trucks. its a ford vendor installed natural gas system. they stop running and wont restart. all truck have less than 500 miles, quite a few were towed 3x with in the first 100 miles.

funded by YObama!

matt will have some work later this week or early next week. i have to call him up

Cool, let me know if you're going to need a loaner

I towed for AAA. Have her call AAA and explain the situation to them. I am pretty sure they will take care of the situation and may pull the AAA franchise from that service provider.

They may not pull it, but they will deduct the repair costs from the tow company. BUT, keep this in mind; they could just pay off the value of the truck instead of repairing it. It's just like car insurance. They won't spend $6K to fix a $3K truck. And no court will force them to.

AAA sent a inspector out to the dealership today to look at it with the Ford tech. AAA had it towed to fox auto where it's getting a transmission, transfer, front axle assembly and front drive shaft. Used parts but i guess it comes with a 12k mile warranty or somthing. Not bad I guess. wonder if AAA is going to make Sakstrups foot the bill?
