This cold is BRUTAL on the Diesel!

The powerstroke fired up (barely), but it was PISSED! Sounded like chunks of cement flying around under the hood, mixed with a dying cat wailing. It also belched unburnt diesel out of the exhaust for a few minutes to show the neighbors what they're missing with their gassers. Lol

My pea-shooter Neon wouldn't start. The battery is pretty new too. I had to throw a charger on it for 20 mins. And when it finally started it sounded very angry.

Yea, my POS old Grand prix laughed at me and told me to F-Off. Took 2 hours on the charger for it to give in and fire up.

I store mine in the winter, but even a good truck can fail when it's this cold because the fuel gels up. Even plugging them in doesn't cure that all the time. -17 deg is extreme.

Ford makes a good ani-gel. Part# PM-23-A. Works very well this time of year.

hahaha yeah, my neighbors LOOOOVVEEEEE when mine does that. It just sits there idling and rolling coal hardcore for like 5 minutes, blacks out my street. Luckily keeping it plugged in and on the charger seems to be the ticket. It fired right up and had heat going. I hope its OK when i head home from work though

My prizm was not happy but started, it sounded like the oil was solid this AM. I let it warm up for about 20 min before I took off and it still wasn't blowing hot.

I landed in Detroit at 3pm Sunday and drove it home to Lansing during the storm, my whole front end and radiator is enclosed in a few layers of frozen slush. I carved out windows and lights and left the rest lol

Not many semis on the ride in to work this morning. I saw several billowing massive amounts of white smoke out their exhaust. One broke down in front of me on 11 mile... all I could smell was unburned diesel fuel.
Synthetic oils and fuel additives help a lot in this weather.

My diesel plow truck would NOT start this morning. Gonna have to put the CTEK battery tenders back on as it was fine up until today. Had it plugged in and everything. Oh well.

My 2004 GMC Canyon did not start this morning. I turned over ok, it was a little rough. But it would not start. My father's 2002 S10 started right up.

My truck is at the body shop getting a dent fixed this week so I have a rental. The one week where I really miss 4x4 and remote start. The little Escape rental fired up at 6:30 this morning but it took a few extra revolutions. The worst part was sitting there waiting for the windows to defrost.

Every time I run into Pete he has stories your vehicles annoying the neighborhood. ;-)

-14 today. I park in the garage tho. 05 canyon started up fine, i put 250 miles on it today with 190 of them in 4x4 lol. Saw about a dozen cars spin out with in 30-50 yards from me. My average speed from 5:30 to 2 was prolly 35 mph. Way home from novi the roads were pretty good and dry. Not much ice left on them till I hit st.clair county. Went from port huron mi (94) to metro airport to 75N to 696E, then Vandyke back to 94 to metro air port, to 275 all the way to novi. Then 96 and novi to 696 back to 94 to port huron.

The gf was supposed to go to Kearny Nebraska for work meetings and training. Her flight got canceled at 8 am, I dropped her off at 7. Do at 10 she got the ok to go home, so I went back and picked her up with two other people that work for same company but in novi, and they didn't have a ride so we dropped them off. Cars in ditches everywhere. 250 miles I put on the truck driving highways. It was crazy out there, happy nothing bad happened to me.

Looked like a lot of people just left their cars on the side of the highway today. Prolly 1/3 of the cars on the side looked to have been parked. There was no skid marks near them or body damage, they were just sitting there parked. Idk is never leave my car on the sure of the road, especially on a day like today.

Neither one of mine started today
Both of mine did not had to call off finally got 1 started at 1:00 I am so pissed I missed work. 1 car had a block heater that I Removed the cord in the summer not thinking that I live in MI. I will buy another block heater this weekend for the other one.I cannot believe that I sat on my ass watching the news and did not do everything to make sure my cars would function lesson learned

hindsight is 20/20 lol

i work midnights. leave my house at 10pm, lastnight i went out at 9:30 and my trusty 2.3 danger ranger fired right up, although the clutch was mighty stiff. I also started it on my lunch break at 4am, same thing. Although it wont build hardly any heat sitting at idle, at stop lights i watched the temp gauge start to fall lol

I left my house around 5am and my Explorer started but it didnt want to idle without my help for the first minute or so. It cranked slow and made some weird noises, like a pulley was frozen or possibly the power steering but it went away. 142k miles on the 5.0 but it hasnt let me down yet... I threw the battery charger on the battery for tonight. Fingers crossed!

My 03 6.0 escalade started just fine, parked it in the garage about 11:30pm then started it about 12pm the next day. So far so good thank god, but while driving I have all kind of snap crackle pops inside. It crazy, im looking into a diesel this year too hmmmmmm
