Near Ann Arbor, Michigan (actually Pittsfield twp). Sometime around 3-4am my 2012 Candy Surf Blue ZX14R was stolen from my driveway. Vin #001376. Just over 5K miles.

Has a Puig dark smoke double bubble screen, knight design 1" drop pegs, Genmar clipon risers, Ogio tanker large magnetic tank bag, Corbin seat with heater, foam grip puppies, and DDM tuning HID lights.

I'm sure she's gone. But Ill reach out anyway in case someone see's it for sale.

I'm so down atm.

2 White males in a dark green or blue 80's or 90's F150 and a white small car (escort?) as a lookout. Neighbors saw it being loaded into the truck after they broke the steering lock to be able to roll it out of the driveway.

Wow, some great neighbors you got there!

So what does it take for them to call / say /
do something?

Yeah, I know. Need to go out of my way to keep my stuff, mine. I don't have a garage, is the problem. Just a storage shed. All of my other bikes (R6, R1, etc) were always outside unless the weather was bad, or in the winter. Never had a problem.

As for the neighbors, this is how it went down. They said they saw a dark blue or green F150 (late 80's or early 90's) pull up around the corner. a white male gets out, runs over to the bike and pops the lock and runs back to the truck. it drives off for a few (10?) mins. While a white, small car (escort?) pulls down the street, checks to make sure the coast is clear. It creeps around the corner (still in sight) and the truck comes back. Then two white guys throw it into the back of the truck and drive off. Not exactly sure how they managed that. Its not a featherweight 600, its fairly heavy. 580lbs.

no plate, or they removed the plate. it was dark, and the closest streetlight is not functioning. No apologies needed from the neighbors. They said that from watching shows about stuff getting repoed, they assumed that's what was happening. Whatever. They are decent people, I cant be mad at em. I wish they called, but it may not have made any difference.

Sorry to hear about your bike, I hope you had full coverage on it. It's just an empty feeling in your stomach when you realize your property is gone. :shake:

That sucks! Nothing worse than fucking with a mans vehicle.

AT THE TRACK!?!? Wooooow, that's ballsy.

Fucking low lifes. One can only hope karma will catch up with them. Like if they took it for a ride and crashed at 150.

Many years ago we had our house broken into while we were on summer vacation. It's an empty violated feeling followed by RAGE (in my case). Cops eventually cought the (teen) punks and I actually got some stuff back. Dumb shit apparently squatted down in the field behind our house while they drank our stolen booze and his wallet (with his probation card) fell out in the field.

I went to his court appearances and waved at him. I also had his parents address just in case, but never acted on it.

Rod, I hope you get the insurance and all but sucks that it happened.

George

Sorry to hear that Rod. Seems like in our society today this kind of thing is too common :( you may want to cement a big I-bolt into the ground an get a thick chain to secure the new one at night. I'm sure not many bikes get recovered... I've read stories of guys buying a frame and title that is clear then swapping all of the stolen parts to that frame.. having a "new" bike for relatively nothing.. Sad but true...

Some good news. Recovered in Dearborn heights. its at a tow yard now. Ill go find out how bad its banged up in the AM. ignition is broken, for sure. Don't know if its startable/rideable. Spotted by the PD out there, not sure if it was already dumped, or if they got caught.

Big props to the Pittsfield PD, and DH PD.

^ Wow, lucky to have it recovered so quickly. That's a nice looking sport-tourer/hyper bike...

For fellow bike owners out there, you have gotta try to keep 'em indoors if you can. Use your garage, shed, buddy's garage or rent a storage unit. Sure, it won't stop all theft, but it'll definitely cut down on the opportunistic thieves looking for an easy target.

Invest in a GPS tracking device (there's other options out there nowadays besides LoJack btw) and use a disc lock (audible w/ siren is nice) when you can. Layered security will go a long ways.

Keep the rubber side down...

lol @ Denny. Going to go deal with the impound yard this morning. Hopefully its just some scratches and a broken ignition, so I can be back riding this weekend, or early next week. And thanks for all your support guys. I was out of my mind stressed for a couple of days.

Haven't heard if it was just "found" by pd, or if they caught the guys with it. Ill know more today. I have some theories on what happened, but its all just speculation. The leading two are:
A) the thieves got spooked and dumped it. Whether its because they saw the neighbor watching, or a cop car came too close while they were in possession, who knows? or
B) they wanted a previous gen zx14 and were too dumb to know that 14R parts don't exactly interchange and dumped it.
