Theives Suck. Bike stolen. 2012 ZX14R blue.

Update. The cast piece that holds the ignition cylinder was cut off. Broken windshield, rt side plastic cracked, lots of scratches, exhaust dings etc - both sides. Missing luggage and covers. tire wear from burnouts. Gas tank lock broken. I'm guessing they ran it out of gas, and couldn't get it open and dumped it. A homeowner called it in because it was abandoned in front of their house. on Bedford street in Dearborn Heights.

Also, the impound yard is a POS as well. I called them, they said it was 165 to release the bike today. I tell them the repair facility is on the way to pick it up, but Im going to stop and look at it. I ask (in person), what is needed to release the bike to the shop. they say, and notorized form (something), and a check for the fee. I say, ok Im going to lunch. I get done eating, and the driver of the shop had called, and she refused to release the bike because he didn't have cash, and also that it would be 290 dollars. I call then back, and plead with them to go back, which they do; from Ypsilanti. I go talk to the lady, and she's like for you its 165. for him its 290 due to a "yard trailer entry fee", and some other BS.

He pulls up. I pay her the 165. The shop driver walks in, and rolls the bike to the curb and loads it right up in the trailer. SAME FUCKING THING HE WAS GOING TO DO BEFORE. Whether I was there or not. WHAT A CROCK.

Great to hear you got her back. Sucks it's been beat on, but hopefully not too bad

Name of said POS yard? Get the word out. Sounds like they are playing Calvinball with their fee schedule. The fact she wanted cash from the driver and a check from you doesn't sound sketchy at all.

OK, Im a bit tired at this point. Going on 24 hours awake. From me, she wanted 165 cash. When I asked her if the driver could cover the fee's, she said he could write a company check. No mention of increased costs. What I didn't catch, was that it had to be a shop she had dealt with before. So, I go to lunch thinking he was cleared to pick it up, I had signed the release form; and was in the clear. Then, the above happened.

If anyone wants to know, its Dalton Towing on Currier. NE of the intersection of van born and Inkster. May also be tied to J&M Towing, since they use the same receipt. From several people in the business, my understanding is that, as a victim; I may not have had to pay any release fee. But who knows. I didn't talk to the detective directly. Just some lady in records at DH PD.

damn bedford street is real close to me , I probably heard your bike ripping up and down telegraph ( common thing ) that night , shitty man , glad you got it back thow

does it looked like it was laid down?
Maybe one of the thieves recently visited a hospital for road rash.

I don't believe it was laid down at any speed. There is scratches on both sides, and a rt side mid fairing is cracked, along with the cracked wind screen. Some of that damage was from transporting it in the back of a truck when it was stolen and unloaded. The rest when it was dumped, I bet. Doubt the parked it upright with the kickstan. I came home with less than about 50 miles worth of fuel in it, after a round trip from Ann Arbor to Woodward (Sat). The fuel tank lock had something broken off in it, but didn't appear to have been opened.

After checking with the repair shop today and dropping off some receipts for mods, and the keys; they said the tank was bone dry. So, it was likely joyridden until out of fuel; and left in a neighborhood. They couldn't have been as easy on it as I am; so they probably got well under 50 miles riding on it. Sort of sucks that it will be thousands of dollars in damage for just some quick fun.

Hell, who knows. maybe they took it to the street races. "Some" burnouts had been done with it, but the rear isn't close to being bald. And hopefully the clutch didn't get too much abuse.

What a bummer. I am not sure if I would even want it back. For all you know the dick head bounced it off the limiter for miles on end.

IDK if being on the limiter would bother me too much. Its there for a reason, and hopefully did its job. Plus, with the slipper clutch; its not likely to have been mechanically over revved (is it even possible)?. If its got motor issues, Ill let Kawasaki's warranty handle it. Hopefully they didn't fill the crank case with sand before leaving it.

Also, being abandoned out of gas means they didn't ride it very far. I parked it with probably less than a gallon-gallon and a half in the tank. IE 10-50 miles worth of riding. They didn't get the gas filler open, so it cant be more than that. Ill know for sure when I talk to the shop today or tomorrow. I'm in better spirits about it being ok to fix it. I just want it back. After its done right, maybe Ill shop for a new one in the spring.

Depends on color options. The current '13 models don't appeal to me as much as the blue '12 did. the black SE with green accents is better than last years green SE w flames, but still not ideal. Overseas got a midnight blue this year, I could go with that. We'll see.
