The Z06 is sold!! What to get next??

Other than the super low production number, and super quick sell out time, I'm failing to see the ultra cool part about this car. Price, power, times, etc?

In 1998, Subaru of Japan produced a widebody, 2-door, Impreza called the "22B STi". The 22B was used to commemorate both Subaru's 40th anniversary as well as the 3rd consecutive manufacturer's title for Subaru in the FIA World Rally Championship. On the release of the sales, all 399 sold out from 30 minutes to 48 hours, depending on the report.[3] The cars had the starting VIN code of GC8E2SD. Another 25 were produced for export markets - see the 22B Type UK below.

The 22B had the EJ22 engine as opposed to the regular EJ20 engine. This means the displacement was increased from 1994 cc to 2212 cc. The block is a closed-deck design. The heads (valves, valvetrain and such) were lifted from the STi Version 4 engine. It produce 280 PS (276 hp = 206 kW) at 6000 rpm and 363 N·m (268 lb-ft = 37.0 kgf·m) of torque at a lower engine speed of 3200 rpm. The redline was lowered from 8000 rpm to 7000 rpm. The compression is a 8.0:1. The turbocharger is an IHI RHF 5HB (the internal company usage code is VF22).

This car was given a unique color of blue and had fender flared widebody taken from the Peter Stevens designed WRC car, thus widening the width by 80 mm (3.15 inches) for a total of 1,770 mm (69.7). During assembly, a WRX Type R chassis was taken off the line. The fenders were replaced with the 22B STi fenders. The car's curb weight is 1,270 kg (2,800 lb). The suspension is provided by Bilstein. The brakes were standard 4-piston/2-piston brakes. However, the color is red and the Subaru name casted on the brake calipers are painted white. The wheels were increased in size from the standard WRX Type R STi from 16" x 7" to 17" x 8.5" BBS wheels. The car is shod with 235/40 ZR17 Pirelli P Zeros. The clutch was upgraded to a sintered twin clutch with a ceramic disk. The transmission ratios are the same as the standard WRX Type R, but the gears were shot-peened for added reliability. The car has a unique hood, a WRC-inspired front bumper and a unique adjustable rear wing.

The origin of the name 22B has often been debated. Many assume 22 referred to the 2.2 liter displacement and the B was for the Bilstein suspension. This would correlate with the idea that Subaru sells a Legacy Spec B, where the B represents the Bilstein suspension. Others believe that 22B was meant to represent the much recognized 555 decal (555 is a tobacco company that was a major sponsor for Subaru in the WRC) on the WRC car as 22B is a hexadecimal representation of the decimal number, 555.

It must be noted that the 22B STi that is supposed to be #13 was never given the plaque. Subaru of America imported #13 to be used as a press car. Three 22B STis were given the #000 plaque, 2 went to the World Rally car drivers for Subaru at the time Colin McRae and Nicky Grist, with the third going to David Lapworth of Prodrive.[4]

Just rare, better power, and better handling than a normal STI of that year. Basically, a slightly toned down road-going version of their WRC car that year

Price would be way too much, considering they're overseas only...so you'd have to get one, then either illegally title it, or go through all the strings and red tape ($$) to get it to have a legal US title. That, or you could just drive it on the track, and not street it. Completely not worth it. More of a JDM Fanboi car

Test drove the Gallardo today. Awesome car!! The best part I think was the sound. INTOXICATING!!

Thanks Jason, I will be seeing you again in the spring time..;)

It was good meeting you Fadi. It was a shock seeing you, I was expecting some big Chaldean guy..

But, I'm glad you liked the car. It may not be as fast as a Z06, but its a hell of a lot more car in every other way. If you do end up going with the TT set up.. I require a drive in it.

Ill take some photos of it when you pick it up while you are out this way.

for 50 - 70K more (if your lucky) i would expect it to be more + a blowjob.

no offense, just stating facts.

No offense, but life isn't purely a dollars and cents. A timex and a Patek Philippe both keep time. Filet from the Whitney and meat at White Castle come from the same type of cow. A McIntosh and Sanyo amp both make sound.

You can either go through life rationalizing everything in a value vs. performance equation, or you can just accept that a Renoir is worth more than a Thomas Kincaid for a reason. If everyone lived life strictly on the basis of evaluating the declining rate of return of progressively more valuable objects, we'd all be driving the same thing, wearing the same clothes, living in manufactured houses, and watching the same three TV stations...

Fadi, get a Solstice and drop an LS2 in it. I rode in one and a little bit of shit came out of my ass. Yes, it is just THAT damn awesome.

my point is, no matter how twisted my words.

is a 70K Z06, will get done what needs to be done in the way of perfomance.

and for the OTHER 70K your saving, buy something for the day to day, a Lambo is pretty much rediculous for michigan, for one, if its your everything machine, our roads will eat it for lunch, if its your garage queen, than your now every american musclecars lunch on your daily commute.

im not sure what this guy is trying to accomplish, but it seems performance oriencted, and band for buck its the Vette', even the SS with a bloated price tag will be cheaper then the Lambo... and be far more exclusive. and kick the Lambos doors in, in turns and straight line.

wtf is he wanting is my point.

You don't buy something because its valuable, you buy something because it puts a smile on your face.

And enjoy the finer things in life if you can.

i enjoy the finest things my moderate paycheck can afford, I had a vette, and now drive a 10 year old Z28, whats that tell you lol.

the Lambo = SS Vette + Insane Merc / BMW and many other things.

and the SS vette will be more exclusive than the lambo, because TBH Lambos in Downtown BIRM and Rochester etc, are more pretentious than a 25K wedding ring, and just as common.

Basically, he has had a Z06, and wants something different. If you would take the two cars, and compare them from personal experience. The Gallardo is a more practical daily/fun car than a Z06. Finer materials, better quality, more useful power and handling.

And really, if you want to start comparing performance. You cant. The Gallardo is more of a track car compared to a that will get away from you far to easily in a straight line, let alone a track. They are two completely different machines with completely different characteristics to them. Yes, bang for the buck the Z06 wins, but yet you cant come close to a Gallado with one in any other way.

So, shut up about this price thing when you can not come to the table with personal experience with both cars. Until you can come to this thread with that, you have nothing relivent to contribute.

Like I told Fadi, for twice the price Id take a Spyker C8 over the Gallardo. Same basic numbers with both cars, but its a different car and feeling all together. How would you compare that to a Z06? Two hand built cars to a mass produced car. You cant really.

Weird, I have a rather good sense of the cars being around, and am in those areas often.. I don't see them nearly as much as a Z06. And really, the SS Vette will be more of the car people buy, and don't drive often. If you want exclusiveness... You wont be seeing it coming from American companies minus CSS. Sorry.

And I make far less than you but yet, still enjoy the finer things in life out side of high end cars.

I work in Downtown birmingham and Bloomfield hills the majority of my work week, as well as frequent there for meetings with inlaws, and Lambo's Ferrari's are no rare site.

Niether is a ZO6, but i bet the SS will be just as exclusive or maybe a little more, with a 200 production run each year..

Hey, you trying to say I am small? I workout..:bowrofl:

Pleasure to meet you man. You and your dealer staff were very professional. Thanks a lot for the tour, it was great..:rockwoot:

No offense taken, now let me explain.

I, like you, thought the same way at first. "For this much money, it better do this and that for me". But you know, now that I drove the car, it ALL makes sense. The minute I stepped into the car it just started to make sense. When I got done with the test drive, it all made complete sense. I can sit here and tell you all the great things about it, but instead, I will tell you that I now undersand why a Gallardo is 150K and a Vet is 70K. Keep in mind these words are coming from the one of the biggest racing freaks to ever exist. Just go to google and type in "Fadi, Z06" and see what comes up..:bowrofl: So, I am not just saying this just because it is a "L A M B O R G H I N I", but I really felt this way after the drive.

If you want a detailed description of the test drive and the pros (and cons) it has over the Z06 (from the little time I was in it), I can do that for ya.
