Yes, it was just a few short weeks ago I posted the same title with a FTW at the end.
I deposited my check on Friday. So I paid a few bills that are due around the 20th of this month. They're scheduled to come out Monday.
My card gets declined at the store, so I call.
Worst customer service ever. If anybody know how Arab's talk, that's how he spoke. It's annoying as hell. Once I found out that they "hold" all checks for 3-5 business days, I told him that it was unacceptable and I need them to release the money NOW. It's a certified check, and I've NEVER had to do this. I could have gone to my Credit Union and they'd have cashed it and given me every bit of the check in cash.
So, the kid starts talking loud and talking over me. So I spoke to his supervisor and she was even worse. Basically told me, "Fuck off, it's in your 'pamphlet', you should have read it. Oh, that 80 page booklet? Yeah, sorry I didn't study it.
Holding checks for that long is unacceptable by today's standards. So when I told her I paid all my bills and they'd be coming out she told me "That's all on you, you're going to have to pay any fee's because this information was all in your pamphlet."
Wow, I've never had worse customer service. When the guy first answered the phone it was loud as hell. I told him "Dude, I can't hear you, it sounds like you're driving with the window down."
"Oh, sorry, hang on....Ok, can you hear me now?"
Fucking dufus. Neither of those people should be in customer service. All they have to do is apologize up their ass, pretend like they're looking into trying to release it, and say "Sorry it's company policy, I'd release it if I could, I wish I could help, it isn't me it's the company, etc..."
You never tell a customer, "You're wrong, fuck off, read the fine print" which is basically what they said.
Also, when I deposited the check, they didn't say anything about a hold. That would have been REALLY nice. They even gave me 600 cash out of it and deposited the rest. She should have said "BTW, I can give you this cash as a courtesy, but don't write any checks or try to use your card because this check will have to clear and that will take until the middle of next week."
So I had to race to the bank and put cash in to cover what I paid out. Also, what's up with just putting a "balance" on the receipt. Never heard of current and available, TCF??
From my balance sheet, I had 1900 to use, I didn't know that 99% of it was "current" and not "available."
I hated Chase, but that's the difference between a REAL bank who is BIG and up front about everything, and little shitty banks like TCF who are open late 7 days a week and sucker you in with little perks like ATM's at every 7/11 that don't mean shit, and then hide all their bullshit.
Who in the FUCK makes you wait 5 business days to clear a god damn check?
So once my check clears, I'll be pulling all my money out and finding another bank.
A big bank at that. I couldn't believe how fast that kid flew off the handle. Yelling, talking over me. They need to be more careful about who they hire. I MIGHT have stayed with their bank had it not been for him, but because of a 19 year old piss on customer service rep, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
