Woman dies after being hit twice crossing I-96 in Redford

Redford Township -- Michigan State Police continue to investigate the death of a woman struck twice by vehicles when she tried to cross the freeway following an accident.

Police say the woman was involved in a traffic crash at around 9 p.m. Saturday on westbound Interstate 96 near Beech Daly. The crash involved the woman's yellow Chevrolet Corvette and a sports utility vehicle driven by an 18-year-old woman, who tested negative for alcohol consumption. According to a witness, the deceased woman's vehicle lost control, colliding with the center median wall. She then got out of the vehicle and crossed the freeway, was struck by a dark-colored SUV traveling in the right lane and then struck again by another vehicle.

The woman is described as a white female, blond hair, about 5 feet 4 inches and 150 lbs. She was wearing dark clothing and has not been identified pending notification of family.

The driver of the SUV was interviewed at the scene by the investigating trooper. The crash is in the preliminary stages of the investigation. State police ask that anyone with information call (734) 287-5000.

I wonder if the woman was just strolling across or sprinting across the freeway. If she was just walking I don't know how a car could not see the pedestrian (assuming no distraction, which is rare these days). If she started to sprint out onto the freeway that is a different story.

well then maybe she should keep her ass off the freeway. Now yea this is sad but jesus natural selection at its best in my mind. No matter how shaken up I might be I still know that you dont walk out into traffic on 96 or southfiled anywhere in that area becuase people drive like fucksticks.

Now maybe her ass was drunk or on something cuz according to what I just read she hit the median/wall which initally caused the accident if thats the case, no sympothy she had it coming.

I would feel sad yes if it was a family member, yet this highly unlikely to happen. Everyone in my direct family is smart enough to not run across the freeway at night in dark clothes. :thumbsup:

i remember when I had my firebird. It had been raining that day and I dont know why it did it, but i was coming around a a mild bend on 275 and the back end kicked out and I went into a spin. Spun across 3 lanes, luckily the Big man upstairs was looking out for me that day. I took out a sign and rolled backwards up the median between 275 and 96.

Luckily i stopped otherwise i probably wouldnt be typing this right now as an 18-wheeler came whizzing by after i stopped. I a bit curious that no1 stopped in the midst of me sitting in my car waiting for a cop n tow truck. But I definitely didnt go running across 96 or 275.

Anyways....could something like that have happened and she figured someone would stop because of an accident?

I'm sorry if your offended by my post but in all honestly no matter how sincere or how much you paint me to be the bad guy you could give two fuck shits about this lady and what happened. We all know almost everyone on here will read this and go oh thats sad, now what am I eating for lunch today hmmm.. an go right back into what they were doing previous.

No one cares, people are too into there own lives and worried about there own shit to care if someone died on a the freeway cuz she was retard and walked into traffic. Now very few people will admit this or say it because everyone is afraid of society judgment.

That is what I was thinking. I heard about the wreck that night, but nothing else following. After being in a wreck it is possible to be a little disoriented.

Nothing per say set me off, just my opinons may be alil harsh for some people. I totally understand that and to be honest expected this kinda of reaction. Some people just cant handle my views on things I'm not angry or bother by it thats just how it is I guess.

I maybe a lil unsensitive to things like this, but im my view this lady by exiting her car and wandering across the freeway caused her own death.

I understand the argument of yea she may have been dis-orientated but even then, I've been in a few good car wrecks myself, one involding a roll over at 55ish mph (not me driving) and me exiting the truck thru the rear window.

First thought that hit me when I stopped rolling was get the fuck out of the street not let me run across the freeway in my dark clothes at night...


An if something tragic happens to me then so be it, you cannot control all aspects of life. you can only do what humanly is possible in a given situation outside forces are beyond you. Shit happens learn to deal with it i guess.

AND until you've been in a situation even remotely close to that, you can't say for sure what you will or will not do. What I posted was honestly my first reaction when I read this yesterday, but I was like, eh, maybe that's a little distasteful. Then today without reading anything else I jumped in thinking, since when did I care about making a distasteful joke?
