From $.19/gallon to $.34/gallon over the next few years.

Remember that we shot down a hike in state sales tax just a few months ago. This is a big fuck you to the Michigan tax payers, they're just going to take the $1.5B from us anyways.

Mother fuckers!! I am SICK AND TIRED of paying and paying, and being taxed and taxed and taxed AGIAN!! All with NOTHING to show for it!!! Im so stressed out with other things in my life currently that i have daily fantasies of packing up my new truck and just driving south or south west for a day or so and setting up camp. Now i have to pay even more to continue living in this shit hole and driving my vehicles on the countries worst roads!!??

thats the problem.. they wont.. they will allocate the funds from it to something else.. its seems like thats what they do with everything

In similar regards,ea Farmington Hills residents had to vote this previous May on something like a $130 million dollar bond/ grant/ funding thing for the schools. It passed. Just saw/ rd that Farmington Hills schools are laying off 231 people including teachers, faculty.

The more you make, the less you take home it seems like. I'm sick of taxes. I think that companies should pay 100% of your salary/ wages and then you yourself have to immediately your "fair share" of taxes right from that paycheck. I think that it would open a lot people's eyes in regards to how much the government is taxing everything.
 
I was a former government employee (department head) who
had a budget & spent tax dollars.

I have experienced first hand how the "system" encourages
maximum expenditures and discourages any fiscal responsibility.

Rest assure, this new tax is not going to be the glorious problem
solver many believe / hope it to be.

^This. An extra $0.15 per gallon is really chicken feed. I say increase it .30 or .50 / gallon & give us the best f*ing roads that money can buy!

The roads will be better than they were. And that's really all one can ask of government.
 
Anybody ever drive in Indiana? Roads are like pool tables (Smooth) People pay.01 (1 cent) more per gal than MI (as of right now)

Maybe if OUR money went ONLY for roads we'd have less claims for wheels & tires. Pontiac Trail & West Maple roads in West Bethlehem look like fucking Beirut.
 
So, we voted against higher taxes but they're going to tax us more anyway. For our own good right? This will fix the roads. Yup, taxes and throwing money at a problem always fixes the problem. Oh well, it gives us something to talk about, not like we have a say in what our government does. It's for our own good, after all. I guess we should close this topic and go back to playing with our phones. If the roads get better then I guess I don't care that my vote doesn't count and they're going to take more of our money from us. It's nice that money just flies out of our asses.
 
Those of you who are fine with this increase are delusional. We pay MORE than enough already to maintain our infrastructure. It's a matter of poor management and spending, not a matter of a lack of funding. .

This is like when Jenny from the block raised our income tax from 3.9% to 4.35% back in 07 with the promise it would be rolled back in 2015. And what happened? Snyder froze that.
 
I saw an interview last night with a Republican congressman that said this is part of the long term plan to phase out the Michigan income tax...yea right like they would stop taking money once they already got it.

I would respectfully submit that it's delusional to expect a third-party to wisely spend your money.
I want better roads. Politicians aren't willing to trim spending in other areas so that means we'll need to pay more.
It sucks, but that's the way of the world.
Assuming you drive 20,000 miles per year averaging 15 MPG (1,333 gallons) the additional $.15 tax would annually cost you $200.
Seems pretty minor to me. Definitely -way- -way- less shitty than increasing the sales tax.
