So I got into an car accident with a person!

Buuhbye guy

nomnomguy "Got Milk?"
Traveling North bound on Gratiot last night in our 2010 Malibu, and im gonna go west bound on 23 mile, for those who are familar with the area theres the Meijers right there on the NW corner. So anyways theres traffic last night in the slow and fast lane, so at that light im turning left so I can go west on 23, so I merge into the turn lane coming outta of the fast lane, theres a good 100 yards or so between me and the turn light.
Some fucking idiot runs in between the cars from the east side of the block running over to the west side, as traffic is at a complete stop on my passenger side im still doing 35-40+mph in the turn lane procedding at the light because its green, next thing I know at the last split second I catch a glimpse of a person trying to make it across, I slam on my brakes, his body stops right around my hood area, I hear a loudddddd bang and thump, rips my passenger side mirror, and his body scratches the front fender area, I continue in complete shock, Im looking in my rear view mirror this guy is still running across the street like nothing happened, I pull back around and he's no where to be found, im like wtf...
Veryyyyyyyy luckily enough I run into a cop less then 10 minutes later and flag him down and told him what happened. He said im not at fault and filled out a report, im out a mirror and scratches on the car, im sure the guys ribs hurt lol, but if this idiot was a second faster he would have been rolling over my hood and this story would have been alot worse! People are knuckle heads out there just be careful!

Hate to tell you this, but if you were traveling 100 yards in the center turn lane, you are as guilty as the other driver....unless it was already the lane for turning at the light.

I talked to my insurance rep today, and god do I love state farm, anyways she said if I would have hit a deer I would have had to pay my deductible, but because it was a person they consider it the same as if he was in a car and it was a hit and run, which my deductible would be waived as long as I have a police report saying I was not at fault (which I do). :)

About 10 years ago, I hit a pedestrian. He was walking with his back to traffic, in the pouring rain, at 4am, in all black clothing. I was living in The Harbors apartments on Hall Rd. I slowed into the decel lane and just barely had time to jam the brakes before I hit him. He bounced off my front fender and into the grass. No damage to my car...

We exchanged info and I gave him a ride to the hotel he was staying at/living in. I immediately went to the Clinton Twp PD and filed a report, but they didn't seem concerned. Later on, he ended up calling an ambulance and got taken to the hospital. His leg was broken. So the hospital called Macomb County Sheriffs and they woke me up at 6am. They wrote up a report and assigned blame to him.

Fast forward 3 years, and I was at my parents house for Mother's Day and I got served for a lawsuit. He wanted $150,000. I had to go give a deposition to a team of his lawyers. I got to read the one that he gave to my lawyers. All of my answers were clear, concise, specific, etc. His answers were evasive and sneaky. He couldn't say where he was coming from, or who was around him... he couldn't remember if he'd been drinking... blahblahblah... anyway, my insurance settled out of court with him for $15,000.

Be glad you don't know who he is or where he went.

The intersection has a really long turn lane due to it being a busy as hell intersection.

I wondered the same thing?

Ill Never forget the time i was pulling out of a complex in the cobra. A homeless guy riding a bike down the sidewalk clipped my front bumper as i was pulling out. Pop cans went flying as he barrel rolled across the hood of my car.

Not trying to cause an argument, but i live within 5 minutes of this area almost my whole life and still do........ and there is 2 left turn lanes that are honestly a few hundred feet it seems like, lol. They actually open up from the fast ( left ) lane and you almost merge into them. Any other circumstance where you actually have to get over in the center turn lane and drive for a football field to get to the light..... then end up hitting someone, i agree.
