Awwww now I'm fucking pissed!

1. How much do you think the dealer makes if he sells it for invoice? Please enlighten me??????? Like I said, that's how it was explained to me by someone who used to work at a major OEM dealership in Lansing. Maybe you guys do something different. IDK...all I remember hearing from him is the dealer (not the employees) breaks even at invoice. What someone pays on top of that goes to cover all of the costs you mentioned (or didn't mention). The idea is to turn inventory, right? You've had that car for less than a week I'm assuming. I can't imagine the floor plan has cost you that much yet...

2. The supplier or employee discount doesn't come out of the dealers pocket, but they have to wait to be reinbursed by the manufacturer. So??? The point is you get that money. If yall calculated the % interest you would make on the money and subtract that out, what are we talkin'....<$20????

3. They also pay what's called "Floor plan". It's the interest on the vehicle while it sits on the lot.

4. They also have to pay the normal bills. I.E. Heat,Lights, etc.

5. There are soooooo many other costs and things you don't know, but I don't feel like typing them all out. Ok...what do you think is a fair amount over invoice for what amounts to 2 hours worth of work when a guy walks in off of the street and says here's what I want and here's what I'll pay???

As for my thread about being "Glad I'm not Salary". Maybe had you read the all the fucking posts you would realize that it wasn't me bragging. I was busting Saso balls because he has to work Autorama. You're right. My bad...I didn't even open the post. I just assumed. But, say I had made the right assumption. When you have a good month...

I have NEVER come here and bragged about the money I make. I make good money. I'm not getting rich by any means. I also work a 6/60 week. If I don't sell a car for that week, then I worked 6/60 for FREE!!!!!!!! I realize you put in the time and it wasn't my intention to accuse you of bragging. But in the same respect, that's part of the risk with a sales/commission job.

BTW good luck getting a new ZO6 for INVOICE. Hell good luck getting one for STICKER. I'm going to try and avoid arguements on supply & demand. But, how many dealerships do you see with Z06's on the lot vs dealerships with Saleens and Shelbys on the lot? I'd say there's a bit of a gap there...

Also when a dealer sell something for sticker or more<such as the Shelby's> it makes up for the Focus's they sell at invoice. It's called making a PROFIT. I know that's a dirty word when it comes to dealerships, but you don't bitch about paying $1 for coke when it cost the party store .50 :rolleyes:Why should I have to make up for the fact that some guy walked out of the dealership with a car at invoice because he bought a Focus? That's got nothing to do with me. And I don't like spending $1.30 on a 20oz bottle of soda. That's why, if I'm going to buy it, I go to Wally World and grab a case. Just like if I'm going to buy a car, I'm going to find a dealer that'll make the better deal...

Again, it wasn't my goal to piss you off Matt. I only stated what I know to be true. In no way do I hold anything against you, your position, or your dealership. If I've been told incorrectly, then so be it.

If yall calculated the % interest you would make on the money and subtract that out, what are we talkin'....<$20????Do you have $20.00 in your pocket? If so burn it. Then tell me it's no big deal. I don't care if it's .20 or 20.00 it's money the dealership doesn't have to spend on other things

3. They also pay what's called "Floor plan". It's the interest on the vehicle while it sits on the lot.

I am saying it's :bs: for you to think every dealership should sell cars at invoice. We aren't the Red Cross. We are here to make money. I know that seems to be a bad thing.

Sometimes it's nice to make that evil "profit" to pay the guys that prep and clean the car. Oh and to pay for the supplies like tire dressing and so on.

When you have a good month...I would never come in here and brag. NEVER!!!! That is just stupid. I'm not a shady get what you can when you can sales person. I believe if you take care of your customer they will come back. Although loyality has gone out the window these days

I have NEVER come here and bragged about the money I make. I make good money. I'm not getting rich by any means. I also work a 6/60 week. But in the same respect, that's part of the risk with a sales/commission job.I'm not asking you to feel sorry for me. I'm just telling you I shouldn't feel bad if I make good money

But, how many dealerships do you see with Z06's on the lot vs dealerships with Saleens and Shelbys on the lot? I'd say there's a bit of a gap there...Oh really? How many Shelby's do you see sitting around? I'm not talking about Saleens. Those aren't a limited production car.

Also when a dealer sell something for sticker or more<such as the Shelby's> it makes up for the Focus's they sell at invoice. It's called making a PROFIT. I know that's a dirty word when it comes to dealerships, but you don't bitch about paying $1 for coke when it cost the party store .50 Why should I have to make up for the fact that some guy walked out of the dealership with a car at invoice because he bought a Focus? Just like if I'm going to buy a car, I'm going to find a dealer that'll make the better deal...Well if you want a limited production Shelby you will pay a premium or you won't have one. Hell if I could sell them at invoice to the customers that would enjoy them and not just put them away as collector cars I would. That's not real life though sorry. So Wally World doesn't make a profit? They sell at invoice to break even? Come the fuck on!!!!!!! Seriously what world do you live in?

Well if it wasn't your goal, you did a pretty good job of doing it and what you know to be true isn't. Just because some :jagoff: told you something don't hold it as "law" I have a vested interest in our dealership. I know alittle more then the average employee. :)

I would estimate about 3% of Invoice, or whatever holdback is these days. But the dealer has to wait for it...

3. They also pay what's called "Floor plan". It's the interest on the vehicle while it sits on the lot.

Isn't it true that floor plan does not kick in for about 90 days ???

4. They also have to pay the normal bills. I.E. Heat,Lights, etc.

True, and that ain't cheap....

All that being said, as a sales person, I would hope to average at least 4% commission per dollar of MSRP, or my gross sales if I were doing used cars, that way if I could move 40K worth of product a week, I might be able to make my mortgage :icon_mrgr
