S&W Race Cars 8 point roll bar install with a twist.

I'm not going to repost all of these pics so I'll just link you to my TooSlo FB page (make sure to hit the like if you are feeling it).

I didn't like how the S&W kit ran the rear braces all the way to the rear of the car eliminating the rear crumple zone so I used (and cut) the straight door bars to terminate above the axle, between the shock towers of which I will tie in eventually.

I used the "seat saver" rear braces for my door bars. To keep the strength I am going to see how it goes without swing-outs for now. (couple guys here have told me I'll develop a routine around them).

I've spent ALOT of time fitting this thing in here how I want it. The last cage I did was for my circle track car that I didn't give a crap how it fit or looked as long as it kept me safe, (which it did as proven when I was T-boned). On this one I am going for a good fit and safety so I am being rather picky. I can't count how many times I've tacked/cut/re-welded things in the last couple weekends working on it. The only regret I have is how I tied my subframe connectors in. I wish I would have triangulated them into the corner under the main hoop as TeamZ does, but it's a bit late for that now. :shake:

I won't be doing the final welding on this one as I did the circle track car, I'll be leaving that to someone who actually knows what the eff they are doing. Enjoy, and critique away gents.

And yes, I am still looking for seats for those of you I have contacted.

Looks good, only prob u might have is the bars next to the door are higher now cause of that bend in there, might be hard to get in and out. Looks good though. As long as your good with it that's all that matters. I bought the s&w cage for my sn95 and have the bars going through the package tray to retain use of the rear seat, and I luv it. They did a great job designing the cage , especially for my door bars, they step in then back out around the door panel. I bought the per notched cage and it worked great, tig welded it and I luv it. Goodluck on your car, looks good

Thank You. Might be hard to get in and out? It is either way I put them. I tried it like WildRides has theirs with the bend going into the floor, I tried straight ones, it didn't matter, it was all a bitch. At least with the bend at the top it is better placed between my shoulder and elbow. I had to tilt them to the inside to clear my arm-rests also so the straight bars would have never worked. Thanks again!

i agree.. it looks like with how the door bar is now it put is up up higher then a normal straight one.. personally i would try and buy a new piece for the door bars and just run straight ones. it will give you a little more clearance for getting in and out and will prob work better

What it all boils down to is what was discussed in INJCTED's thread... I'm short, 5'8" with stubby legs. When I trial fitted the straight bar in I had to mount it high on the main hoop to get it to remain above my elbow. When I push my seat back from where I race at, it's way easier to get in and out, the bar goes below my elbow, and I can't reach the pedals, let alone shift consistently :icon_bigg For me this was the best legal fit.
