I picked up a Neato XV21 and to see how it compares to my Roomba 595.
Below is a link to a video I created with some comparison results.
The black stuff you will see on the carpet was uncooked black rice. The Roomba's side brush tends to fling the stuff around. This still might be better than not getting to it at all like the Neato. Perhaps the Roomba would have picked up more if this was something lighter like dog fur or dust bunnies.
The Neato definitely has more suction but because of this it is also louder. Its brushes are also more powerful since you can see the carpet trails more clearly with the Roomba. I am not sure what is up with the battery life, but my Roomba can go for over an hour on a single charge while the Neato goes back to recharge after 30 minutes. Therefore, the time made up by the efficiency of the Neato is lost due to battery life.
