Remember that cop that was driving drunk and hit three motorcyclists... killing one

So...You know of three crooked cops. That makes them all bad? I say this because you constantly post up this stuff. Do you really think that this is the norm for the police? I'm not defending the bad ones. In fact they need to have their asses handed to them, but the reality is they are the very small minority of cops. If you hate cops so much because of personnal exxperience, you may need to take a honest look at the situation. If you seem to get hassled a lot, maybe the problem is you, not them? Just sayin.

See, I think it's a lot more than a small minority. I think a great deal of them are somewhere between a little bit shady and straight up criminals. I use the analogy, as it applies to my job that "Truck drivers are like cops. They're either really good at what they do, or complete pieces of shit."

The big issue is that when they are POS's, they have the potential to complete ruin other people's lives with their coverups, false charges, harassment, etc. Much more so than any other job...

I know for a fact that most of the Dearborn Cops are at least a little crooked. The former Chief of Police was WELL known for driving home trashed and often ended up with a police escort while doing so. This is not hear-say either. I've witnessed it from his own driveway (I may or may not have been out with his daughter). If you are aware that your chief is doing things this dumb and don't do/say anything about it then you're aren't being a police officer.

When I was growing up in Livonia.....The LPD use to escort one of the Livonia 16th District Court Prosecutors home every Friday.....The dumbfuck would almost fall out of his car when he got out....

I don't agree with your first paragraph. I think that per capita there aren't any more asshole cops than there are assholes in any other occupation.

Now I defenately agree with your second paragraph. As with anyone in a possition of authority, they need to be held to a higher standard.

DAMN!!!!!! were you one of those "white" familes Raj always talks about in his Livonia references?

I got into a little disagreement with a drunk at a bar in downtown Dearborn. The guy was hammered and harrassing a girl at the bar, I intervened, blah blah blah. Long story made short, the bartender told me that they know the guy is problem, but he's a Dearborn cop and there's nothing they can do about it. The bar called the police on him one time, and were told by the officers who responded "Don't cause any problems for him, or we will cause problems for you and your liquor license."
