A couple of sportswriters for the Chicago Tribune are openly pulling for Anaheim because they figure the Blackhawks have no chance against the Wings.

do you even watch hockey??? i would have to say no because if you think the wings are the only team that plays that way your either retarded or blind. thats the way the rules are in the nhl, the wings didn't say " hey lets put together a team of skilled players that don't go and hit anything that moves, rather play a puck control game and score alot of points" thats the way the nhl is these days deal with it or go watch something else. fuck the ducks they blow, hiller is the ONLY reason they are where they are.

detroit has physical players, detroit has highlite goal scorers, detroit has guys who go out there and work until their eyeballs fall out every single shift (helm, filpula, holmstrom takes more of a beating than anyone in the nhl, everyone hates him, franzen has been doing the work of 3 men for the last 25 games (20 goals) and we have team leaders like draper and lidstrom...my personal opinion is that there is not a more well rounded team in the nhl.

anaheim is a great team, with alot of very good players. but they wont be making it past thursdays game.

there's less scoring in hockey now then there was 20 years ago and that's because the talent level is diluted and there are too many teams. Get rid of about 6 of them and the league will be better for it.

This is true to a point. The league would be financially better if they got rid of Phoenix, Nashville, Florida, Tampa Bay and Atlanta. Maybe get rid of 4 and move one to Hamilton. But while this would make other teams stronger, the talent level is about the same as 20 years ago. With the addition of the European players that weren't playing at that time, I'd say the league might even be stronger.

The scoring is down due to the trap style defenses that are employed. The clutching and grabbing slows things down. The new rules from a few years back limits obstruction making highly skilled players more valuable. This has been to the Wings favor. The team is loaded with these types of players.
 
So how exactly is the Detroit Red Wings destroying the NHL?!?!? Please I want to hear this excuse...

No-one showed up to watch them at home during the regular season. The economy helped with that, true, but it has been stated by friends and family members of mine (and others) that had season tickets that gave them up because of the lack of physical play. Not fighting, but any kind of physical play. And, no, one or two playoff seasons to not make up for the 14 years of bitch hockey this team revels in.

When the rest of the league adopts this style of play (this is what Buttman and company want), it will be paramount everywhere.

When people stop going on a grand scale out of utter boredom and direct disrespect for the game and it's players acting like little kids every time they get checked or looked at the wrong way, the league will fold.

The only way to stop this from happening is for the league to see that the euro style of hockey is not accepted here. And whenever you bitch wing, so-called "hockey" fans cheer for your euro-cunts, you are helping the team kill the game at a professional level.
