Random Snap Shot Thread

one of the best walk-around lenses canon makes in the L series would be the 24-70 f2.8. VERY fast lens and lets a TON of light in in low light situations, it also helps with the 12800 ISO. unless you have a nice lens anything above 3200 iso gets grainy, with this 24-70 f2.8 lens its totally manageable.

I agree, I shoot with people that have this lens, and it works great!

there are a few things on the 50D that arent very useful, like live view/etc but overall the camera is by far the best ive had. ill even say its better than my 5D mark 1 I had, some will argue that though. WAY better than my 20D.

Thanks a ton! I just passed that info on to her!

Do you have a flickr at all? Im guessing you tooks those pics of your car?

Oh, btw, i was jsut wondering when or why you use like 12800 iso? Couldnt you just use a longer shutter time or somthing? IDK..i dont know too much about photography..haha...Im just curious..

I do have a flickr page but nothing on it right now worth showing, ill edit it later. the pics of my car in the sig were taken by someone else for a magazine, still waiting for it to be in the mag.

its for times when you cant wait for slow shutter speeds. ie low light photography at weddings and such, or stalking people in the dark. i dont use the 12800 at all though, never needed it yet.

edit:

heres the link to my flickr, dont judge by some of them since they were taken with different cameras throughout (sony PNS and my 20D) some are decent though, all are raw and untouched.

Most importantly.

Yuck Yuck Yuck.... Car is duuurty and in winter mode!

All the picture i took are horrible! Out of like 100, two turned out ALMOST POSTABLE...haha. I really didnt want to post them..but i will.

Camera is a kodak point and shoot. Setting were full auto cause i couldnt find adjustments anywhere..haha. I just turned off the flash, and held my breath to take the pic..haha. It was fully dark when these were taken. P&S does no good with NO light..haha

Color on the pics is horrible! They are also very grainy....

I need a DSLR, nice lens, and a tripod...haha

But, how is like my composition of the shot. I know its only two of them, and they are both similiar, but do they look boring to you? What about my setting? Anything you guys would get rid of...like the lights or anything? Just trying to get a little better, and feedback is nice!

I usually dont like when the headlights are on unless it is needed for the shot (driving) or it really sets off the picture. In every other case I like Parking lights only or those and fogs. (Which I know you dont have.) Shots look pretty good, I would like to see more of the background though?

Yeah, the 24-70 is a great lens. I purchased a 24-105 when I got my 5D Mark2 because with how good the sensor is, I don't need 2.8 and the 24-105 with IS ends up being a great walk around. I do think in some situations the 50D is better at high ISO. However, the 5D locked up is better in low light and similar ISO's.

I have replaced almost all my lenses with L glass at this point, with the exception of a 50 1.4, 85 1.2 and 100 macro. I have a 16-35 2.8 L, 24-70 2.8 L, 24-105 4 IS L, 70-200 2.8 L and a 400 L 2.8.

i NEED the 70-200 L, Im jealous!

I agree about the 5D, although for the money (to me) its a no brainer over the Mark 1.

anyone have a flash their looking to get rid of? My 430 EXII just broke. looking for something similar.
