Questions for you gym guys that lift weights.

I am on a health kick. Been doing a lot of cardio and eating mostly protein. Dropped 30lbs in 6 weeks.

Just started lifting weights and adding some muscle. I go to the gym after work. I find that I just don't have the energy to really get a good weight lifting workout. Is there anything I should be eating before the gym? Anything out there at the health food store that can be taken before a workout that will give me that extra push?
 
Anything with caffeine really....stay away from things with sugar.....eat something with some carbs in it about 45min to 1 hour before your workout. If you really want to take a pre-work out, there is N.O. explode, Dark rage, black powder, and others that will give you an energy boost as well as put Arginine in your body. Arginine is an amino acid containing nitrogen that will expand your veins to carry more vitamins and nutrients to your muscles. It will also help give you bigger pumps in the gym. I personally an most people i know that tried N.O. explode dont like it...The other two i mentioned are pretty good, I believe Dark rage is a little stronger then black powder. Mix with a half filled water bottle and drink about 20-30 min before you get to the gym.
 
no sugar, no caffeine, little carbs as possble, LOTS of water, multivitamin (very important)

Caffeine is ok before a workout, it just shouldnt be relied on for every workout. Carbs fuel your body with energy, and if you dont take in much sugar through the day (esp. before a workout) the calories will be burned quickly. And yes water is the most important thing you can put in your body. Any good multivitamin is fine...i take the GNC sport blend because of the added amino acids and recovery additives.
 
I use N.O. Xplode before every workout and and very happy with the results. I also hit the gym after working for 8 hours and it boosts my energy level. To each their own but I suggest giving it a shot if you know someone that has some you can tap into. BE WARNED!!! You have about 2 hours before you will be pooping so plan your workout accordingly.
 
insane mg lemon/lime way better than no explode.....but get ready for your blood to itch
 
You definitely need a good carb for your energy levels. Regular oatmeal works great for me, even natural rice. And definitely a half hour to hour before your workout. Its great that you're eatin protein to help build the muscle, but don't neglect you're carbs! Your workouts will be much better!
 
Plan on doing 2 days weight lifting and the rest cardio. I have Creatine made by Twinlabs that's in capsule form. Says to take after exercise. Should I take this only after lifting or also after cardio?
 
My advice is that you need nothing prior to the gym to give you energy. If your eating before the gym make sure it's at least an hour prior to and not food that is heavy in fat. Your energy level is derived from how much sleep you get at night and carbs the night prior. You need to be resting at least 7 hours each night. If that is not happening then that is your problem.

Prior to the gym it's all in your head. The only suppliment I take is whey protien and you have to have the right work out for yourself and your goals.

creatine should be taken every day before workouts IMO. Anytime before, not immediately before. Creatine is funny, unless your taking 1 certain kind, 99% of creatine takes almost 30 days to even absorb into your blood stream. Pill form depending on what your taking will absorb within 5-7 days. The powder's and such you need to take about 5mg to absorb about 1.5mg and shit the rest out. SOME pill forms you only take 2.5mg and almost all of it absorbs so you wont be looking for a toilet. All creatine does is trap water between your muscle fibers. So with that said, you need to be drinking a TON of water and taking creatine everyday to see its effects after about 3-4 weeks. It wont make you stronger, it will just help you to look slightly bigger and the more water you drink the leaner it will make you look.

ever try jack3D for a pre workout?....My buddy told me after watching me take it you act like someone on a mixture of cocaine+steroids. lol
nope, i'm never gonna try anything else for a pre-workout....not saying jack3d isnt good..i dont know anything about it, but insane mg does everything i need so great there is no need to try anything else...plus a $40 tub lasts you a loooooong time

thats cool....Jack3D is a little strong and starts to mess with you after a few weeks... Do you ever take ready clean to flush that shit out of your body? Also I try and switch my pre workout up every 2-3 months or so, just so my body wont become dependent or to use to it.

I've never felt more intense during a workout. There's no "big tub" packaging or fancy fillers that take up about 77% of the ingredients of most of the other pre-workout drinks. I picked it up at the Vitamin Shoppe for like $29 bucks. Just my .02

Jack3D FTW!!! Like i said, it feels like cocaine+steroids :sagrin: very tiny container that will last a month for sure....plus the scoop is only as big around as a penny!!! Intensity is an understatement..lol.
