Broke out 4 cans of Gunk engine cleaner
Now for the rattle can rebuild for now 1971 400
Rated at 265 hp with a 2 barrel and single exhaust
wonder what it will be with dual's and a 4 barrel
Anybody got a 2500 converter for a C 6

SHIT!!!!!

did a test fit on the engine today going to have to switch oil pans!!!!!

good news motor mounts are going to be a breeze

NPD sells one I need $150.00!!!

anybody have a 1980 and up 351m from a van or truck laying around?? its the pan I need
 
Got to see Jim's project today. Looks very nice. The front suspension really looks good, wheels look nice also. Jim helped me out with some parts today that I have been looking for a while for. It was worth the trip and it was nice to meet Jim. Thanks
 
scored a oil pan pick up and hardware from a 79 full size Bronco for $75 plus the ride sure beats the $300 summit wants for a canton pan
seller didn't want to fool around with UPS sending it to me US Mail parcel post Im not arguing

might have this thing running in time for dream cruise after all

one step forward 2 steps back !!!
got the new oilpan for the engine I gain 2 inces of clearance with it I hope its enough ! guy that sold it to me didn't give the main cap stud needed
to support the oil pump pickup so I had to order one made the mistake of going through a auto parts /machine shop in Wyandotte and had them order one for me instead of goinbg on line to Summit or Jegs I special ordered one from ARP and I think they sent it snail mail! turns out I could have gotten one from (canton oil pans ) for half of what I paid for an ARP bolt ... live and learn

the engine Im using only had 70K on the odometer so I wasn't too worried about using it (as/is ) so when I tossed it on an engine stand and pulled the oil pan and intake manifold I got a bigger surprise than I thought (NO SLUDGE) !!!! lifter valley is clean oil pan was too !! there is even cross hatch on the cylinder walls on the thrust surface in the bottom of the cylinders !!!

so all its getting right now is a rattle can rebuild

finally got it back in the shop and on the hoist...
fabricated adaptors to use the original style Galaxie 500 engine mounts to the Crown Vic sub frame
took all day but will be rock solid and easy to repair if I ever break a motor mount also scored an aluminum driveshaft from a full size van
gonna get it shortened 3 inches no more (mid ship ) bearing an 2 piece drive shaft next up Im (pulling the trigger ) and will be pulling the 8.8 rear I just installed and going with the Mark VIII ( IRS )
this thing should handle great since I installed the engine with 3/4 of it behind the front axle center line

This is GREAT!. I have a 51 and will be doing the Crown Vic IFS (I have to narrow the rack and cradle) I also have a 8.8 explorer rear end.

I cannot believe have heavy those IFS setups are tho. Its deceiving

the crown vic clip is lighter than the twin I beam it replaced your 51 straight axle on the other hand doesn't compare
from what I have read the better set up for your truck is a Jaguar or Volare' / Aspen

I guess I should've elaborated lol, the Twin-I looks bulky/heavy. The CV IFS is large, I think the aluminum gave me the impression it wouldnt be that heavy. (most of the weight is at the spindles/rotors/calipers. As for the solid front axle, id assume that its insanely light because there is nothing to it.

I like the MII IFS but its been done on just about everything. The Jag is probably one of the better options but Im not a fan of it. The Volare/Aspen isnt a bad choice either but I cant/wont bring myself to do mix manufacturers parts. There are a few people who have done the CV IFS on the 48-52 F1s. People tend to shy away from them due to needing to shorten them but Once it is done, it looks killer. I have an 01 Cobra engine and trans, so the CV front end seems very fitting.
