And I think sidewayscoupe was talking about checking out the chicks undercarriage and not the vehicles undercarriage. (Although I may be mistaken)
Yeah I reread my bad.
Missed that.

You don't need to preach to me about auto repairs laws. I know them inside and out. As I said, It probably posted in their waiting room, and on their invoice.
I know they are on my walls, both in my offices and in my shop and on my estimates of repairs AND ON MY PERMISSION TO INSPECT VEHICLE WAIVERS, WHICH I MAKE EVERYONE SIGN AND GIVE A COPY TO-NO EXCEPTIONS Even if vehicles are dropped off over night, before I touch it they get a email decribing in detail my terms, and I demand a email back, agreeing to the terms.
And, they need no written permission to charge 20 bucks for basic inspection
Ive been by that shop many of times. They block the entrances/exits when they are closed. Im positive they are not "new" to auto repair, and theirs a reason the lot is blocked at night. Im willing to bet they know their rights all too well.
Everyone knows the law states you can charge up to $20 without a signed written estimate. My shop has signage up warning of possible storage fees of UP TO $30/day
Your assuming everyone knows about the law, not everyone knows about the 20 bucks.
I received a letter from the state in the last year that said storage fees could not exceed 10 dollars per day. I remember receiving it, I had to change my sign & work orders because of it.
I'm also not certain everyone knows its illegal to charge for repairs if they are not performed at a state licensed facility. I'm sure coldfusion would not like it if state inspectors visited him for violating the law.
Even suggesting someone to contact the state with out all the facts is just wrong. I would not wish that on anyone. This issue should be resolved with the shop owner and the vehicle owner, not in a public forum.
To even suggest the shop is "shady" without ever dealing with them personally, or even having all the facts is wrong.
did you check and see waht reiko wants for quick struts?

They don't have to be in nice shape for you to inspect them...Who are you kidding?? That's like saying Trunk has standards....
In ze cloud somewhere....
Wow... wtf is wrong with people. Taking your car into a shop knowing that you aren't going to have them perform any work on the car AND EXPECTING TO NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR THERE TIME! Not even enough sense to ask if there will be a check out fee, just expected it to be free. WOW
What next, walk into to a doctors office and get a diagnosis and EXPECT to not pay and then bitch if they want to charge you?
