I have a friend with a 355 chevy with about 10.5 to 1 compression and i beam eagle rods and a cast eagle crank and some dart heads. He wants to spray the car but has b pistons. How much can he spray it and be safe?

what type of pistons does it have? I have the same setup in my old 385 stroker with SRP forged pistons and sprayed 175 to it with no issues. I would say 200-250 max. A freind of mine has a 406 with a stock GM cast crank spraying 250 all year long with no issues

I've heard cast cranks are sometimes better for nitrous :dontknow: because they absorb some of the shock from the nitous hit with a little flex.

IF that motor has forged pistons 85 notch I'd say spray it all day long up to 250 maybe even 300 with a progressive controller and a safe tune. I've even seen/heard/read about people with cast pistons, stock rods with good bolts and stock cranks spraying 250 in small chevys without any problems.

There was an issue of car craft where they sprayed a stock small chevy untill it blew up, it was pretty interesting.

Another isntance which is still stupifying to me, my buddie's uncle has a GMPP crate motor, the goodwrench 300hp long block. All stock besides a single plane intake, th-350 tranny with a 3500 stall in an s-10, 4.56 gears. He sprays it a 400 hit. Ive seen the jetting and the truck and I dont believe it but he does it. It's only had about 7 bottles run through it with the 400 shot and I'm waiting to see it blow up.

All depend on the tune up..I'd like to see how fat that 400 shot is on that motor, I wouldn't recommend spraying cast pistons they will melt in a heartbeat.. I'm sure you could make it work for a little while but if it's living your waisting N20 and not making power you would with a forged set and a clean tune.. I always hear the words safe tune...I wonder sometimes if they really know what a safe tune is??

Its not the smartest idea to spray cast pistons.. but i've sprayed a stock bottom end 302 with 250 and had over 30 bottles go thru it at that setting with about 50 bottles at 150 this is in a three year span.. and it never blew up..
