Paying off all credit cards in full at once...?

You have to live somewhere and virtually everything tangible requires some sort of tax, insurance, upkeep, etc - so it's really a silly argument.

not really, have a friend who has a 216 unit apartment complex in Fayetteville, NC lives in one of the apartments (rents it to his self) the complex makes bank for him (bought it with a nice windfall from his grandmother when she passed. he works here at GE (for now) for the health insurance. needless to say the complex more than pays the bills, is a tax write-off (for now) and he has a staff run it for him. the cleaning ladys he hires for vacancys clean his apartment when they are slow........

If you work hard at it, and think things thru...... anything is possible.

Anything is possible. The guy inherited a couple millions dollars. Worked real hard for that did he..

I had to look it up. That development is currently listed off-market for $17.3 million. I'd say he can quit the job at GE.

Windfall = this qualifies. :lol:

Whoa, looked further and there's a 77% LTV note on it. Risky bidness. But it's Class A property in a good area, so not that big a deal.

He has ALOT of military folks. (he wanted to give back to the military since he was army himself. He knows the unit commanders and they make sure their troops dont destroy any of his rentals.... He is a stand up guy. he has had 7 of his renters killed in combat. he let their family say for 3 months rent free to help them get on their feet after such a travesty. hence the reason why the unit commanders love him so much..

Does anyone know if I don't use the cards anymore while I pay them down, will my apr's start going up? My two highest accounts actually have decent apr's of 11 percent while lower amount cards are 17-23 percent.

Your interest rate can move at any time for any reason. Paying them down shouldn't move them by themselves.

lets talk about your spending habits....

if you arent in dire need of a smart phone get rid of it. thatll save a nice chunk of change. stop buying fast food, buy in bulk (things you need, instead of buying a smaller portions and purchasing more often) example, my wife likes to take yogurt to work- we buy the 1lb tub and she takes it in a container. we also like granola.. so we make our own for about the cost of a box of cereal. actually we could really make our own cereal if we wanted to (or ate more of it)... if you like to snack-lets say you like to buy the snack bags of cheezits or chips. look at the price per ounce on the shelf. you will save so much money by A.) bulk boxes and ziplock bags (reuse the bags to save some extra cash too) B.) switch to off brands or store brands.

my point is: there are SO many different ways to save cash that people look over. One thing that i did when i was about 21 was carried a daily planner with me. every time i spend ANY cash (1 penny or 500 bucks) i wrote it down. things like buying one $1 coffee everyday adds up. some people buy snacks from vending machines and spend 30-50 bucks a month and dont even realize it. (goes back to buying in bulk and planning you snacks) you should know where every single dollar you make goes to. tighten the reigns on you budget and everything else will fall into place. i would start using a debit card for purchases to lessen the burden on the Credit cards. this will in turn make you only purchase things you need or have the cash for.

I started doing that at about the same age, really opens your eyes as to where your money goes, and how much of it. I was a shitty saver up until that point, now I look to curb spending damn near everywhere.

X3 - Amen!!!

I have about 40 of these financial principles I wrote,
this is #1 :

“I demand that every dollar I spend
yield the highest value it can”.

In other words, think about what your spending /
buying. Try putting a new purchase off, a lot of
times you then end up NOT making that purchase.

Only reward yourself with a new toy AFTER all
the bills are paid (& paid in full). Limit those gifts,
the fewer you have, the more you tend to appreciate
them.
