Ya it was sad. She (the parrot) was so nice and was part of the family . We don't know why it happened. Nothing in our household changed. No additional pets or people.

If you do some online reading, you will discover birds get geriatric with age and suffer from all sorts of age related illnesses and behaviour troubles.
