Our 2011 Mustang GT vs. C6 Z06 at the track

How is that track?

Excellent

I heard a blower whine what's done to that 2011 mustang

It's N/A, the next car back in the lanes had a blower

It really needs a set of cams to get the full power out of the current mods. There is no weight reduction other than removing the spare tire and jack and of course the wheels/tires. The car weighed 3,680 lbs.

Mods are:

Livernois Motorsports 12:1 Pistons
Livernois Motorsports Stage 1 CNC Heads
FRPP Manifold
Stainless Works Headers, Catted Mid-Pipe, and Catback
CAI
4.10 Ring & Pinion
Circle D Stall Converter
Livernois Motorsports 1-Piece Aluminum Driveshaft
Livernois Motorsports Dyno Tune
FRPP Springs & Adjustable Shocks/Struts
Drag Radials/Skinnies

damn makes me want to go buy a new 2011

what about the vette? any info on that?

Who cares! LOL

Actually, Drag radials and exhaust could get you there on the Vette and just DR's if your real good.

You gotta hand it to the Mustang though. 302 ci at 3680 pounds compared to 427 ci at 3400 with driver? Motor to motor the 5.0 is king.

Really?! I have to disagree that motor to motor the 5.0 is king over an LS7. That LS7 is turn key as is from the factory.

Nice runs though.

The two cars in the video are irrelevant.

In OEM spec.....

412 hp from 302ci = 1.36 hp/ci
505 hp from 427ci = 1.18 hp/ci

Math does not lie and can not be argued........the Stang is superior.

I wouldn't even think of arguing which car is better. Overall the Z06 with the LS7 is as fantastic as fantastic gets. Best bang for the buck ever. But that new little 5.0 is incredible. It gives results. And using Joe's calculations the Boss version nets 1.45 hp/ci. And a standard crate 5.0 can be bought for around $6000!

Believe me, I wish I had one.

And the Boss is even more

So you're saying a 2.0 liter honda with 197 hp which equates to about 1.63 hp/ci. Math does not lie, so therefore the Honda Civic Si is superior to a Mustang. I should have bought a Honda instead of my z06 because it is "superior" according to that measurement.

I kept it N/A to N/A so it is apples to apples. Believe me, I have nothing against the new 5.0, enjoyed my time in one. But statements like that are ridiculous.

im personally a chevy guy, but both are great cars, the 427 in the vette is a bad dude, as well as the 302, if you ask me its all personal preference

Ok, I'm fine with analysis like this. So you're saying a 2.0 liter honda with 197 hp which equates to about 1.63 hp/ci. Math does not lie, so therefore the Honda Civic Si is superior to a Mustang. as far as squeezing power from displacement, then yes, Honda is superior. and my Lincoln makes 0.39hp/ci, but its still the baddest car in town, LOL

yeah the 302 makes more power per cube, as well as chevrolet could have set up the 427 to make more power, they didnt need to, bottom line the 427 has almost 100 more horse, and your also paying alot more for it, if you ask me power to cube ratio isnt a very good way of comparing the two... i fully understand your point tho

id say better comparisons would be

mustang GT vs. Base Corvette
GT500 vs. z06
cobra jet vs. zr1

That still doesn't make sense. A Mustang shouldn't be compared to a Corvette specification wise, because thats not what the Mustang is intended to do. The Mustang should be compared to the Camaro, which sadly the new ones are piss slow.

The new 5.0 is running at almost maxmim efficiency from the factory, they don't pick up much from a tune. Saying the 5.0L is a better engine than a dry sump 427CID LS7 is a joke. With a tune the LS7 would probably make the same HP/CID and the LS7 is going to make more power per modification, period. Keep in mind that would be if money is not a factor, you could obviously build one bad bitch 5.0L for the price of a C6 Z06. Reguardless, the video is bad ass and those were good runs Rick. That car was flying with just bolt-ons, I can't wait until you get some cams for it!

Considering this is a Livernois, modified shop car, it really doesnt make a difference. I think Rick was just trying to show that they took a 4 seat mustang, and got it to hang with a fast Z06
